In The Presence Of The King

Read Rev 4:1-7:17

Majestic. That’s the word that came to mind when I stood at the rim o the Grand Canyonin Arizona. I was in awe at the size and the beauty o it. The intricate and colorul landscapeoered by the rock layers was stunning. I elt an overwhelming reverence or God by simplystanding beore this breathtaking canyon that He created.I can’t even begin to imagine how the apostle John must have elt when he was broughtbeore the presence o God. The Holy Spirit gave him a vision o the throne room o Heaven.He witnessed a combination o amazing and disturbing events rom the uture when Godcarries out His fnal plans against Satan and all who choose to deny the Almighty God.John also saw God, but interestingly enough he does not describe Him in human termsbut in colors. He conveys God’s image and presence using the colors o jasper, sardius andemerald - three precious stones that John was amiliar with perhaps because they adornedthe breastplate o the high priests during those times.In his Bible commentary about these passages, William Barclay says, “It may well be that the jasper stands or the unbearable brightness o the purity o God; the sardius or His avengingwrath; and the gentle green o the emerald stands or His mercy by which alone we can meethis purity and justice.”

The book o Revelation is ull o symbolism and we may not ully understand all o it. Butin these chapters we read today, the message or us is that in the very end, everyone andeverything will praise and honor God or the Creator and the Redeemer that He is. Evil willhave no chance against Him. God Almighty is in control o everything even through the lastdays when situations may appear dire and out o control.May the book o Revelation give you hope. Followers o Jesus are assured o victory over eviland a special place in heaven beore the throne o God. That’s how our story will end i we putour trust in Jesus as our Savior. All praises to Him or He is worthy!

PRAYER

Praise you, Almighty God, or creating me and redeeming me. It’s only by Your grace that I willbe able to stand beore Your throne in heaven one day. Thank you or sending Jesus, the Lambo God, to save me rom my sins. Amen.
