About this ebook
The new king of Camelot wears no shining armor: Arthur and his knights have fallen and a new king rules.
In the darkest forest …
A scared, forsaken youth has become the most powerful—and feared—man in the world. Ruthless and unrestrained, Kerrigan has long ceased to be human.
In the heart of London …
A spirited peasant mired in drudgery, Seren dreams of becoming her own woman, but never expects that by fleeing her fate, she will meet her destiny.
Their worlds are forever changed …
Kerrigan's goal is simple: barter or kill Seren to claim Arthur's Round Table. Yet she is the one person who holds no fear of him. More than that, her nobility sparks something foreign inside him. In his nether realm, kindness is weakness and a king who harbors any sort of compassion loses his throne.
For countless centuries, Kerrigan has lived alone in the shadows. Now Seren's courage has forced him into the light that will bring either salvation to both of them … or death.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Sword of Darkness was OK. Seren was wholesomely good, but, thankfully, I didn't find her annoying. I actually really liked her. She had a spine and stood up for what she believed in. Kerrigan was supposed to be the Big Bad, but he wasn't. We were told he did all of these horrible things, had no compassion, blah, blah, blah, but he was a big softy where Seren was concerned and it was a bit disappointing. The plot was decent, but the story dragged in places. I kept me interested enough to want to read the next books though. 3.5 stars
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5It didn't do much for me. I like the idea of dark Camelot though. This story has a beauty and the beast theme.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5So, I haven’t decided if I only liked this book a little bit, or if the 17 hours of straight reading…with 8 more to go has hindered my ability to actually enjoy anything I read at this point. Oh well, I am going with it. I think this book was just ok, I finished it, which is more than I can say about the last pseudo-Arthurian legend book I have read lately (see Lucan) , so that is a step up. I liked how strong Seren is in this book, just doing what needed to be done when it needed to be done. I did not like how Kerrigan was all over the “I’m to evil for my shirt” role, it got pretty boring a little ways in. We know he had a crappy life and all…we got that, but he just would not let it go. Anyway, I like how Macgregor kept it closhish to the legends and added her own twist enough so that it didn’t resemble an insane babble of nothingness. As I said, it was just ok. Sorry if this review or my last offends anyone…I apparently get grumpy when tired, lol. Enjoy!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the first book in the Lords of Avalon series. The story of Kerrigan and Seren is very well written (I didn't expect any less). I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is the references to Monty Python (and the humor in general) that makes this book so wonderful in my opinion. Add to that the fact that I have a special place in my heart for "the tormented hero"- and voilà, this book gets as many points as is possible.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A historical romance with Arthurian overtones. Kerrigan is the king of Morrigan's court. He's lived in an evil world and his emotions are supressed and violence is his life. Into this life comes Seren. He finds himself attracted but her softness is making hims somewhat soft, can he survive an evil court?Fun, amusing and light.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I read this book shortly after finishing the Dark Hunter series and wasn't impressed with it in comparison, but recently rereading it without the comparison so fresh in my mind I enjoyed it. I didn't quite understand the references to modern things and time traveling. I couldn't tell if it was something that will be developed more in the series and needed or just a reason to put in some modern humor. I'll be more pleased if it is the former.Kenyon/MacGregor always does a good job of putting in steamy scenes with sexy men while maintaining a focus on the story. This is no exception. After my first read, I wasn't planning on reading more from the series but now I am.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed this book, good plot, bad guy, and Arthurian legend - what's not to love.
