Reviews forA Passion for Him
Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Mystery man enters her life wearing a mask and Amelia is intrigued. Will she settle for a life of passion or compromises.Opening Sentence: The man in the white mask was following her.The Review:Just so we are all on the same page, I went into this 3rd book of the series having not read the previous two and I don’t believe that it impacted on the story. This is vitally important if you are like me and like to follow a story from the beginning in almost a compulsive obsessive manner. This book is a delight as a stand alone. Now on to the rest of the review. The first sentence of this book sets the scene for the entire book. A mysterious man in a mask is following our heroine, Amelia, but instead of being concerned or worried, she has as my grandmother says “gumption” and seeks to figure out who this man is. She is a woman who has suffered through much in a short span of life and carries these experiences with her as an independent woman. The richness of her history and her unflagging sense of determination and spunk very quickly endeared her to me. She refuses to be the typical heroine in distress which in part is due to Ms. Day’s wonderful story telling. Our “masked man” is Colin Mitchell, a man that saved Amelia when she was a young girl, appeared to have died in the attempt and returning from Europe in order to claim the woman of his dreams. Colin’s journey is detoured when he is a witness to a murder that the authorities believe he committed. So in order to not bring this tragedy into Amelia’s path he decides to visit her on the night of the masquerade so he may say goodbye. The story from there is filled with twists and turns that had me smiling and even reading a portion again because I was completely shocked at one of the plot twists. However, this is a story written by Ms. Day and no story would be complete with out sex. I do recommend this book for its wonderful story but do note that it isn’t a PG-13 experience.Notable Scene:Her foot tapped impatiently atop the gravel as she waited. That was why she did not hear the man’s approach. She did, however, feel him. The hairs on her nape tingled with awareness, and she turned swiftly with a soft gasp of surprise. He stood just barely within the entrance of the circle, a tall, dark form that vibrated with a potent energy that seemed barely restrained. Beneath the pale light of the moon, the man’s inky locks gleamed like a raven’s wing, and his eyes glittered with the very intensity that had goaded her to seek him out. He wore a full cape, the gray satin lining providing a striking backdrop to his black garments, enabling her to fully appreciate the site and power of his frame.“I was looking for you,” she said softly, her chin lifting.“I know.”FTC Advisory: Kensington Brava provided me with a copy of A Passion for Him. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.read more
