Foreword: Bishop James K. Saah
In his landmark book, Towards Excellence in Life and Ministry, Dr. David Oyedepo stated: a successful lifestyle is not measured by the quantity of accumulated possession, neither is it measured by popularity
. He concluded that a successful lifestyle consists in the attainment of God’s goals and purposes for one’s life.
It is said that great minds think alike, and therefore not surprising that Dr. Myles Munroe also shares Dr. Oyedepo’s frame of mind with a simple statement, the greatest threat to being all you could be is satisfaction with who you are.
Every point elucidated by these two great men of God in the above quotations, are captured with insight and style by Emmanuel Socrates Quansah in this book, The Spirit of Excellence.
As a Pastor of many years standing, I have followed the progression of several young people through the critical phases of life. Many hopes have been dashed because many young people fail to capture the strategic decisions and lifestyle that underpin success in life. I am particularly thrilled by chapter two which captures A Yearning Heart,
and I pray the same spiritual fervor and zeal will engulf you as you read this book. The author has matured in the spiritual disciplines under the able tutelage of Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, an acclaimed general of Strategic Spiritual Warfare. No wonder the Power of Prayer permeates this book.
Do you yearn for success and excellence? Do you desire to shed off the cloak of evangelical sloppiness which seems to bedevil the church in many places? This is my counsel, read this book and remember, knowledge is of no value, unless it is applied.
Unreservedly, I recommend this book, The Spirit of Excellence from a conviction that it would take you to the next level of your life. Amen!

This book comes with an awakening of our God-given original value. God created us in excellence and we by all standards must deliver as such. Excellence determines your worth and thus puts a high price tag on you. As you read and conform to these hidden secrets of excellence, may your price tag change

Dedication
This book is dedicated to Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams. You have taught us, not only what to pray but how to pray - perhaps our greatest asset. You have been persecuted but like Daniel, you pray, work and weather the storm, still soaring like the eagle. The Jews had Daniel; may our generation always have ‘An Apostle of Strategic Prayer’ like you. You always have the upper hand; this is what I call The Spirit of Excellence!

Preface
Excellence is more than getting an ‘A' in chemistry or Physics or churning out quality product or music. It concerns living our entire lives far above the average of society in mind, soul, spirit and body. Excellence is the great ‘neutralizer’ of racism, tribalism, age, gender and in most cases, religion. It is the most attractive quality to have. It puts you on the pedestal of influence. In the Bible, it is excellence that caused Joseph to rise above his jealous brothers to become the prime minister in a foreign country. David, the shepherd boy, rose to become the greatest king of Israel because of excellence. Nehemiah, the king's cupbearer, built the walls of Jerusalem in a record 52 days and became the governor of Judah due to excellence. What do you call 'the thing' that also caused the Hebrew slave, Daniel, to become prime minister
