How much trouble can you get into helping an old lady deliver presents to children? If it’s The Way - the epic yearly voyage to deliver one billion Christmas presents in one night - a ton of trouble.
It doesn't help that the arrogant elves want to replace the reindeer with an engine. Nor that the gnomes hate the elves. And the quarrelsome reindeer fight endless duels.
Still, Mother just has to do what she’s told.
But Mother has her own ideas on The Way: she stops to kiss babies, chat to moms and drink tea.
Near dawn the elves are forced to reveal that the sledge is an experimental prototype, so unstable that if exposed to light it will explode with an earth-shaking detonation.
Now the whole team have to harness their courage and skill and pull together in a frantic white-knuckle ride to save The Way, Christmas, and earth itself, from destruction.

GERARD COLLINS is a Newfoundland writer whose first novel, Finton Moon, was nominated for the International Dublin Literary Award and won the Percy Janes First Novel Award. His short-story collection, Moonlight Sketches, won the NL Book Award, and his stories have been published widely in journals and anthologies. He lives in southern New Brunswick.
