About this ebook

Plan, Publish, Market

You’re a writer, and you have every writer’s dream: that your work be read. Maybe you’re discouraged by the publishing industry; maybe you just want to test the waters and see how your writing is received before sending it to New York. In any case, you’ve decided to e-publish your work, taking advantage of the growing popularity of e-readers and growing success of “indie” authors like John Locke and Amanda Hocking.

With so much hype around e-publishing these days, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. What should you e-publish? What platform should you use? How do you find readers? And where can you turn when you have questions?

Want to E-Publish answers all these questions and more. Unlike most books about e-publishing and e-marketing, Want to E-Publish includes not only the author’s own experiences with e-publishing, but also shares research conducted by reading over a dozen other e-publishing books. With advice, humor, and candid observations, including stroke-by-stroke impressions of self-publishing with KDP, PubIt!, and Smashwords, this book is the perfect companion to any e-publishing endeavor.

Author

Malissa Kent

Storytelling runs in Malissa's family, so few people were surprised when she made the transition from voracious reader to avid writer. She started out writing terrible poetry and bad song lyrics in middle school, but found her stride in writing novels and short stories. She majored in Creative Writing and French at Knox College and recently completed her MFA in Popular Fiction at Stonecoast. Though Fantasy is her literary darling, she's written a fair share of science fiction, mainstream fiction, poetry, and even French translation. Her work has appeared in literary magazines, as e-books, and in STEAMPUNK III: STEAMPUNK REVOLUTION, edited by Ann VanderMeer. Malissa lives in the Pacific Northwest, where she mountain-gazes while planning her next trip to visit castles for writing research. Her online home is at www.malissa.com.
