I clicked through the book a bit to get a taste of the writing style and came across this, "Phrasal verbs have a few rules of there own..." Really? How did that manage to get through several rounds of proofreading and editing?

INTRODUCTION

Last year, I wrote a book called 27 Phrasal Verbs that You Should Know. That book, (available on Amazon) introduces 27 of the most important phrasal verbs in the English language. The ones we use every day, that a student will surely encounter.

Someone who wants to learn English should memorize a certain number of phrasal verbs, but that number certainly isn’t more than 100.

The rest of the phrasal verbs you’ll find are more or less easy to guess based on a knowledge of the basic meanings of the particles and prepositions.

For example, this sentence:

I’m going to take these shoes back to the shop.

Take back has a fairly obvious meaning, if we know that back is used with various verbs (go back, come back, etc.) to mean in the same direction as you came from or a backwards movement.

The same thing happens with the phrasal verb speak up. If we know that up usually means an increase or an upward movement, we can guess the meaning of this sentence.

Could you please speak up? I can’t hear
