- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I received 'Whole Lotta Creativity Going On' by Regina Pacelli in exchange for a honest review.I always feel I do not get to be creative at work and even at home. Hectic schedule with sometimes the same tasks. So, I thought, 'why not try this book out to develop some creativity.'This book consists of several different types of exercises that are supposed to help you develop some creativity. Even if you are a creative person, this book might have some exercises that help you use different type of creative thought. I did not do all the exercises. Some simple ones that I could do quickly. I certainly will try some of the longer ones at some point. A better way to spend some time, than watching a re-run sitcom.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is full of exercises to spark creativity. I've read through all of the exercises and started doing a few of them. I enjoyed doing some different writing exercises. I look forward to going through all of the other exercises in the book over the next few weeks.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I was really looking forward to reading this book and picking up some Inge. I'm not saying I didn't, just not to the extent I was oping. I typically have a difficult time with the ideation types of things; I'm a doer. So I really had hopes that this would help develop some of my weakness. I would have liked to have understood what the premise of each of the category of exercises were and maybe even examples of when those categories would be useful for certain situations. A lot if the book seemed to be acting exercises. Nothing I felt I could particularly apply in for my needs.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The exercises are fun and unusual. Sing a song about the soup you had for lunch. Make up 5 stories as to why that person is in a hurry. I agree these are very good exercises. However I have been doing much of that my whole life, Ideation - a word in Tom Rath's Strengths Finder, was mentioned in this book, and it turned out to be one of my top 3 strengths. I've often been told: "You ought to work in an ad agency making crazy commercials." Again - this is a very good book for people needing help with their creativity, but I got less out of it because I already do these crazy creative things; I guess it is just how I'm wired. I recommend this for people wanting a crazy creative course to create creativity in their creativity-craving craniums. Craniums? Crania? Craniorum? ida know.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I received this as a free review copy. I tried a few of the exercises from different sections of the book. Some felt overly easy while others were brain stumpers that made me think and actually use my mind. The one on creativity in action caused my roommate to send me to my room to change my clothes, it still was fun and made me realize how stuck in a rut I've gotten, even with my wardrobe. This book did exactly as promised and made me stretch my creativity and knock a few walls off of my box.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fast read if just reading and not 'doing'. I did most of the book except for some of the week long exercises. I'd say that most of these exercises probably will help those wanting creative blossoming of their written work. For those that are visually artistic I only found a few that I thought were helpful. I enjoyed making a song exercises the best as well as the pattern exercises. All in all, if you are in a rut this may help you.Received this book from author via Librarything.com member giveaway for review. Rating: 3.5 stars
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.I am always wanting ways to exercise my brain and this did a great job getting the creativity side working. Some of the exercises reading them you thought it would be easy until you actually started it. Will read this again!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As an author with two books under my belt, and two more in the processing of being written, like practically all other authors I’ve come down with the dreaded condition fondly know as WRITER’S BLOCK.I suffered from this condition several times as I wrote my first novel and needed to find something which would stimulate those little cells in my mind. Luckily I found a site which would supply me with a weekly prompt word for which I had to respond by a FIVE SENTENCE story. Eventually I compiled the ones I’ve done and other which I had not into my second.I currently have two WIPs which are currently on hold. I’m definitely going to come back to this book when I return to working on these endeavors. The reason for this is Ms. Pacelli’s endeavor here gives her readers not one kind of writing exercise to stimulate their creativity, but 60 of them, and each one can used over and over again.Do not let my talking about this book helping authors get over their writer’s block deter anyone else from reading this book. This book will be of a great use to anyone who has a creative mind and wants to have something to stimulate; whether or not the end results will be published. For aiding the creativity all of us have, I’m giving Ms. Pacelli’s book 5 STARS.I received a KINDLE Edition of this book from the author through her LibraryThing giveaway, and the above has been my honest opinion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I adore this book! It can be used in so many ways with a variety of audiences. As an aspiring writer I’ll be using the activities as writing prompts, but the questions can also be used by early education teachers, parents, inspiration for visual artists, and just about anyone else you can think of. The book is divided into 10 different categories: Awareness, Sensory, and ExperienceCreativity in ActionIdeationImaginationPictures, Patterns, and AbstractionSnap PortraitsSnap SolutionsStop and ReflectThought ExpressionWord PlayWithout sharing too much of the book, I’d like to give a few examples: “Watch a movie you’ve never seen before on mute and make up dialog.” “Listen to a type of music you hate and come up with 2 or 3 reasons why others might enjoy it.” “Make up a new children’s outdoor game.”I’m excited to read more of Regina Pacelli’s work and recommend that you do the same!I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
