About this ebook
I've tried to bring the arts together to tell a story - our story - of life in the 21st Century. Each Volume has direct links to applicable songs, movies and other author's works to help tell a particular piece of that story.
There are three Volumes that make up The Book of Change: A Tapestry of 21st Century Culture.
Volume 1: Global Finance vs. The People
Volume 2: Environmental Issues vs. Politics
Volume 3: Evolving vs. Loving Relationships
To paraphrase the 16th Century French philosopher and original Encyclopedia author Denis Diderot, this is my manifesto to all of you:
I feel compelled to collect knowledge, to bring forth to the people with whom I share the planet - so that the events and conditions I have witnessed in my lifetime will not become useless to the future generations to come; and so that our children become more aware of their importance within an ever-changing world, and at the same time become more hopeful and happy, and that I should not die without providing a service to the human race by learning, loving and passing it on.
Laurie Izzy
Laurie was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and has spent the last decade in a professional corporate training role for large organizations. In her spare time she volunteers as a literacy tutor for adults with learning challenges and also teaches English as a second language to newcomers to Canada. Now residing in the spectacular Sea to Sky Corridor of the Pacific Northwest B.C., she's remains an avid kayaker, activist, and hiker. Her blog Life, Love & Other Things has been read all over the world and continues to offer anecdotal commentaries on things like the karma of shopping, oil and gas exploitation and a world without money. Her first eBook publications, The Book of Change: A Tapestry of 21st Century Culture, is a 3-volume narrative of some of the global issues that face much of humanity: Global Finance vs. The People, Environmental Issues vs. Politics, and Loving vs. Evolving Relationships. All three books come to life and appeal to a variety of readers through suggested supplementary material from the arts: Integrated movie titles, additional literary & book references and a variety of music selections. To paraphrase the 16th Century French philosopher and original Encyclopedia author Denis Diderot, this is Laurie's manifesto to all her readers: "I feel compelled to collect knowledge, to bring forth to the people with whom I share the planet - so that the events and conditions I have witnessed in my lifetime will not become useless to the future generations to come; and so that our children become more aware of their importance within an ever-changing world, and at the same time become more hopeful and happy, and that I should not die without providing a service to the human race by learning, loving and passing it on."
