    Index

    Introduction

Almost all of us in the United States honor certain capstone events in our lives. Birth, of course (or the rest makes no sense), maybe baptism, high school graduation, marriage, divorce (say some of the ex-married), and death.

Yet none of them seems to linger longer in the memory than high school graduation, probably because it happens just once and takes place at a critical junction in our development.

Do you have a teen (or even a tyke) who will graduate from high school in the near (or far) future? Then why not create a gift for them that they will never forget, lose, or sell—their own high school graduation book!

It won’t be like their school yearbook, if their school has one. That’s a super memento but it is published for the entire class. Of course your child will appear in it, as will friends, the homeroom class, team photos, and scattered shots of the campus, prom, and key events.

I’m proposing a book (bound or an e-book, or both) with only one star—your child! It will be about his or her graduation, captured in print and photos so it can be remembered just as it was, forever. The cast will include friends, family, pet(s), sweetheart, and memories.

    The author will be you.

And the publisher will be one of the seven or so ancillary publishers that understands the publishing so you don’t have to. All you must send them is the text, the digital photos, and a cover.

Don’t worry, it’s easy, fast, and almost free!

Better yet, you can have this book produced once, 12 times, or as many thousands of times as there are folks eager to buy it.

1000 times? Sound nuts? But what if your offspring becomes famous? How many people would buy an original Elvis graduation book if it were readily available today? If that happens, you will even earn a fat royalty from every book sold! (Isn’t it about time you cashed in on the kid?)

The cost of this book is almost as miraculous as the thought of your child paying you back with royalties! To publish the book and even to sell it worldwide won’t cost you a dime. (A slight exaggeration: it will cost you the shipping of the first bound copy back for you to proof. Figure $10-25.)

The digital version is totally free and available within an hour or two after you accept its proof at the website. The bound version takes about 10 days to arrive, after you give your blessing to the proof, plus a few more days to be publicly salable.

How all of that is done is what I will share with you on the pages that follow.

Incidentally, I’m not involved in this publishing process, other than to share the idea and most of the how-to steps on these pages. It’s your book to create.

Why do it? Because it can be the very best kind of one-on-one personal gift you could give to your graduate—unforgettable, kept a lifetime, shared with your grandkids, and their grandkids… You can also have lots of copies made to give to the grandparents, uncles and aunts, family friends, anybody who loves you and the graduate and will treasure such a memory keepsake.

    Eager to know more?

You probably have two dozen—or 200—questions to ask. Since I don’t know which questions you’d choose, let me give you several hundred answers as I outline a how-to, step-by-step process that (with patience) will
