    When Australian archaeologist Carl Langley experiences visions and protective urges for site relics while in the newly-discovered tunnel entrance to Sinesi 1, he is progressively beset with deeper mystical connections with what he believes is the long dead Pharaoh of Upper Egypt.
    Conditions worsen. Now the presence is in full force, believed to be haunting the ruins, and the military has threatened to shut down the site.

      It was okay. It was way better than Mr. Turner's short story anthology. It was more engaging and I think I had more connection with the characters than his other stories. However, I was quite expecting it to be a horror novel but it was not. I guess it was supposed to be a suspense-thriller novel but I am still waiting to be suspended and thrilled. The book was very much anti-climactic, a bit of a let down, a disappointment thus the 3 stars. (BTW, I got this book for free in return for a review).

      The author descriptive scene places the reader right alongside Chris Langley as his leads an archeological dig uncovering the unusual six-sided pyramid. The story clearly illustrated the dichotomy between the need to seek knowledge and sites are forever changed or destroyed during the excavation. Hidden passages, unbelievable treasures, and ancient spirits make this an entertaining adventure.

      I received this book as part of the member's review program. I enjoyed the storyline and characters, although it did move a bit slow at the beginning. The author was very detailed with descriptions, and I found myself losing focus with some of that. Overall, it was a good read and I would purchase from this author again.

      Wordy archeological adventure following a group opening an unknown tomb. If you can get past the first couple of chapters it is a pretty good read. The story does pick up speed and become a decent thriller type story and other than the beginnng being so slow this was an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the sun.

      A Highly Detailed Egyptian AdventureI received this book as a LibraryThings' Member Giveaway free e-book from the author, Chris Turner.I would classify Denibus Ar as an Archeological Adventure set in Egypt. We follow archaeologist, Chris Langley, and a cast of characters, including Goldie, the Siamese cat, as they try to uncover the mystery surrounding the tomb they are investigating.The beginning third of Denibus Ar is very slow, and I was initially overwhelmed by the author's eye for detail and minutiae. Once past that point, the actual adventure moved along and kept my attention.I found most of the characters thinly drawn and rather stereotypical, like something you'd find in a graphic novel. Many of the passages read in a visual manner as well, and with so much detailed description that the plot seemed lost at times.Some of the prose and use of language felt contrived to me, and ultimately detracted from my enjoyment of the novel (example: "Too early it was for beer.....")Overall, Denibus Ar was a fairly interesting read about an incredibly interesting topic.

      If you like reading about ancient Egypt, the Queens and Kings of long ago, their riches and their treasures, buried with them in pyramids, the archaeologists who long to discover them and the thieves who try to steal everything, then you will like this story.Travel along with Carl Langley, a group of others and a mysterious cat who have discovered a six-sided pyramid and the maze like passages underneath. Some things are better left alone and the most evil sometimes get what they deserve.Extremely descriptive, you feel as if you are in the desert with the heat, sun and sand, and the deep, dark tunnels of the numerous passages of the unique pyramid. Would definitely recommend to others.

      Overall, an entertaining and exciting read. Obviously the author spent a great deal of time researching the subject of this novel - Egyptian archaeology. And while drawn-out at times, and a bit choppy at others, the plot as a whole is well-written and shows a ton of promise. I'll be excited to read Chris Turner's next novels!****

      It was long-winded, for lack of a better word. Tons and tons of detail, everything is detailed. The setting is beautifully explained. But then we begin to lose the plot. A plot point is mentioned, then the setting is painfully described, then it meanders back to the original point.I could see other people really liking this book. The author really seems to know their stuff. I just couldn't get into it.

      I recieved this book from Librarything member giveaways. This book was a bit of a slow starter, I actually gave up on it a few times. Im glad I didnt, after getting throught the trudging beginning chapters, the storyline picked up and became vastly more interesting. The end of the book went a little too fast for me, making the book a bit unbalanced, I think a good editor might work this piece up a bit better.

      When I started reading this book I felt myself wondering whether it was somehow grounded on a real site or all imagination. In other words, the writing style is real enough. It was not untill the magic started to appear that I realized it was all a work of fiction. Chris Turner normally writes science fiction and fantasy and this shows in the book. The story is very well plausible (if you believe in magic) and shows a good knowledge of Egyptian mythology / history.The only real downside that I can name is that near the end of the story the plot seems to move considerably faster than at the start. This gives that part less credibility as the amount of details suddenly become less and make it less believable.All in all an entertaining read.

      Received this book from LibraryThings member giveaways for an honest review.Books with an archaeology theme are my downfall. I just can't get enough of them. Throw in a paranormal aspect and I'm in heaven. This book was no exception. The author has an impressive ability to combine Egyptian archeology and the paranormal aspect of a "mystical connection with a long dead Pharaoh of UpperEgypt". I enjoyed reading this story and hope for more from this author.I liked the main character of Carl Langley, the Australian archeologist. He reminded me a bit of Indiana Jones (always a good thing!)

      A six sided pyramid is found in Egypt and an archaeological team wants to unearth its secrets. Soon there are odd events occurring and mysteries multiply. I did not feel a connection to the characters but the premise was a great combination of Egyptology and ancient magic.

      The author combines a knowledge of Egyptian archaeology with a bit of paranormal contact to create an Indiana Jones type action novel consisting of a mythical hidden pyramid that is temporarily discovered beneath the sand and then reburied and forgotten. Turner considers in the adventure the haunting question of whether ancient relics should be left as intended by their builders, or exhumed and displayed in public museums for public observation and study. The book is well written and sprinkled with a few 'look-up' words, and the storyline moves along at a frantic pace. A good adventure novel.This was a Member Giveaway received for review.
