Here's the deal--I gave myself one year to train and fight in MMA, and if I wasn't dominating amateurs by the end of the twelve months, I would walk away. I suppose I should mention that I was a stay at home father of three, and my youngest was only three months old! All day in the gym was not an option. I searched the internet to figure out what I needed to do to get this adventure started but I was greatly disappointed. There was no clear path to follow for people in my situation. I watched seminars from pros, read articles about everything from weight cutting to preparing mentally; I even did the most obvious—talk to the other local fighters from the gym. To my amazement, no one who was actually doing it knew what the hell they were doing! I soon realized the most educated person in my circle--when it came to everything from the roots of MMA to the most effective methods of exercising, drilling, and (most importantly) getting on fight cards--was me! Some information is out there, but scattered over a hundred different places. And almost nothing applies to the newbie starting from square one. So I wrote a book!
