BED UNDER THE BRIDGE
Sleeping on the sidewalk
Over me old newspaper spread
So comfortable I appear
Could be mistaken for someone dead
Underneath the arches
It is not the best place
But it is somewhere I can shelter
To London it is a disgrace
Curled up like a ball
On the hard concrete
I won’t roll, I won’t fall
Among the litter and garbage cans
In this modern city
I am still allowed to live like this
Sure, it is a posh address
Embankment place
Near tube and rail
Not far away the river flows
A chip shop is right outside my door
Over my head
Wood pigeons roost and coo
Late night walkers strolling past
Look through my open windows
Apalled by
