Christopher Hodapp's Freemasons For Dummies is simply the single best introduction to Freemasonry that is available. When I am asked about a good introduction to Masonry for new Masons, for those interested in the Craft, and for those who just want to learn, this is always the first text that I recommend. Brother Hodapp covers all of the essentials in this book, from history to philosophy, the various adjunct groups within Masonry, myths and misconceptions, and much more. I heartily recommend this book for everyone.

I think this is about the best introduction available about Freemasonry for non-Masons and even for Freemasons who need a refresher about the history and rites of the Craft. Pick up a copy if you do not already have one.
