About this ebook

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life comes a novel with the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism as her beloved Shopaholic series.

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.

Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger. . . .

But come Monday morning, Emma’s office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO.  Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn’t possibly get worse. Or could they?

Praise for Can You Keep a Secret?

Kinsella’s down-to-earth protagonist is sure to have readers sympathizing and doubled over in laughter.”Publishers Weekly

“If laughing out loud in public places is your bag, be sure to pick up [Can You Keep a Secret?]. Heroine Emma Corrigan is going to be your new best friend.”Boston Herald

“Kinsella’s timing is so perfect, her instincts so spot-on, that it’s easy to . . . devour the book like the guilty pleasure it is.”Miami Herald

“Chick lit at its lightest and breeziest . . . filled with fabulous clothes, stalwart friends, and snotty enemies waiting to be taken down a peg.”Orlando Sentinel

“[Kinsella’s] dialogue is sharp, even her minor characters are well drawn, and her parody of the marketing world is very funny.”Washington Post Book World

“[A] comedic frenzy of ill-fated events . . . punchy . . . fast-moving.”Rocky Mountain News

I adored this one! Emma spills all her secrets to a stranger on a plane when she thinks they're about to die- then he turns out to be the millionaire head of the company she works for. The rest of the story is well paced and enjoyable. Emma was a very likable and easy to relate to character and I definitely found myself hoping things would work out for her. The writing is light and witty and the book is impossible to put down. It was a very fun read and definitely on par with Kinsella's Shopaholic books.

Rereading this one for the zillionth time. Maybe my favourite Sophie Kinsella book (either this one, the first Shopaholic or I've Got Your Number). Just such a good mix of heart, humour, romance and the sparkly bubbliness I've come to expect from her.

This book is cute and it made me laugh out loud. However, it is clear that contemporary just isn't my thing despite my love for the Traveling Pants Series.

This story seriously had me laughing out loud. I felt like I could really relate to the main character and she seems so realistic!

I read it, but it was disappointing, and so I cannot even recall the basic plotline. I would advise the author to stick to her Becky Bloomwood series or create loveable characters like the main character in The Undomestic Goddess.

I liked this book a lot because it was a fun read. The character was shallow, yes, but you can relate to somebody like her better than you would to a lawyer. She has made mistakes in her life that we would cringe if we ever did. Over all, it was really funny. I suggest getting the audio because that was pretty hilarious. I give this 5 stars because I would definitely read/listen to it again.

The main character of this book is so like Becky Bloomwood (from Shopaholic series). I rolled my eyes at how silly and shallow she was. The book follows a pretty typical chick-lit storyline...girl meets guy, girl does several embarassing things, girl and guy get together, but obstacle comes up, couple overcomes obstacle and the girl learns a lesson about her silly behavior. It was entertaining, but I would cringe to think women are really like this. Talk about insulting to our sex.

I picked up this book because I thought the idea of telling a stranger all of your secrets is pretty hilarious. It didn't disappoint me. This book definitely had me laughing out loud a few times!

Yup, another fun Sophie K book. Another bit of a fairy tale. Still, quite fun and a lovely little fluff of a read. Great escapism, especially during the mad rush of this holiday season!

I thought this book absolutely hilarious! I found myself laughing out loud and making my husband listen to me read portions of this out loud to him, although he hadn't a clue about the book! :)

This is a better story than Shopaholic & Siter, although much less intense. The usual suspense is not there, but I liked the character and it had a nice set-up. This is a novel about being young, smart, and searching for the right career, something many people can relate to, as I did.

I loved this one. I think the reason why I keep giving the Shopaholic series another try is because I do love Sophie's style, it's just that the subject matter isn't for me. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed 'Can You Keep A Secret'. It wasn't too over the top, and the heroine wasn't out there. Or at least I didn't think she was. I felt teh ending was a bit too rushed and glossed-over, but apart from that, an extremely nice read.

The main character, Emma, spills all her secrets to the man next to her on a plane. That man turns out to be the CEO of her company. As she deals with Jack Harper, she realises that it's better to deal with some secrets. It's a pleasant book, featuring fluffy easy reading. However the situations are sometimes so unbelievable it's hard to relate.

A hilarious story about Emma Corrigan, a young marketing assistant desperate to prove herself to the world (and her family). During a turbulence scare on a flight home, Emma spills all of her worldly secrets to the stranger sitting beside her. The next week at work, her company's elusive CEO, Jack Harper, turns up, only to be that stranger from the plane! An excellent read, impossible to put down. Complete, enjoyable, funny fluffy reading. If you are feeling bummed out about anything, this book will certainly make you smile!

I just fell in love with the characters and the love story in this book. This is the most fun I've had reading a book in a long long time and anyone looking to read something that will have you laughing and crying though a beautiful love story should read this book!

A truly entertaining book that will have you break into grins and unbelievable laughter throughout. Imagine babbling your most intimate secrets (including how you don't really love your boyfriend that much), and innermost thoughts (like all the complaints about your job) to a perfect stranger on a plane just because you thought you were about to die, only to find out the next day that the stranger turns out to be your biggest BOSS!! CEO of the company as a matter of fact. So begins the journey of discovery, of friendships and new romance, all with that embarrassing feeling that every wink or grin from your boss might have some hidden meaning. The ending does not disappoint too, since the whole book is meant to be enjoyable and fun *winksOh, and love the cover. Purple's my color and snow globes are my thing =D

A fun read for a lazy Saturday afternoon. It took a while to warm up to the main character, but in the end I was rooting for things to work out for her. Overall, it was enjoyable.

I'm embarrassed and amusedA co-worker loaned this book to me after I passed on Remember Me. Gotta say that I actually enjoyed this one, and chuckled a few times. There's a clear formula to Kinsella's stories, but one that I am willing to endure for the amusement factor. Plus it's pink.

By far her best book! Much better than the "Shopaholic" series. Emma is a likable, down-to-earth character who could be any woman.

Wow, this book was great! I had heard it was a good book but wasnt expecting it to be this good :) It's one of those books that you laugh, cry, and scream at all at the same time. Emma was such a character lol but any girl could connect with her totally. A couple times in the book i wanted to throw the book and stop reading it cause i was sooooo upset and mad but couldn't put it down. Totally a 5 star book :)

This was a really funny book. A light and easy love story. Again, it is set in England and I enjoyed that aspects too. The characted speaks quite similarly to this author's main character in her Shopaholic series, very readable, very realistic. Like talking with a girlfriend.

this was a quick and funny read. I almost wish that this book had been part of a series instead of Shopaholic. This book is great if you are looking for something to help you escape day to day life for a short while.

This is one of the best novel that i've read.Written by infamous and my favorite writer that has published bestselling Shopaholic series, Sophie Kinsella, this book really captured my mind since it views the real life of many women nowadays.if im not mistaken, i've read this book about 12 times. I really enjoy it. It is a story about young woman, Emma Corrigan who just like us who has some secrets that we don't want other people to know...however, one day she accidentally slip the secrets to just the wrong guy, her new boss.the story quite happening since it shows how crazy life could be and how things can be so complicated when we become so desperate.

A hilarious read that's been hovering at the back of my mind since the last page. It's a pleasure to read time and again, and Sophie Kinsella is my go-to when I need something easy-going to cheer me up.

Emma is one disaster after another, always getting herself into sticky situations. And sometimes she can't help but lie. But doesn't that happen to us all? One little white lie and then suddenly you've spun a web and you're stuck in the middle.

Jack was a hate-love character for me. At first I didn't like him, in fact for most of the book I didn't like like. But by the end I thought he'd grown as a character and changed delightfully for the better.

I was a good fun read. I loved the humor, and that the story didn't feel too outrageous, despite the unusual things that were taking place.
