      I found this book gave me insight into communication difficulties I was having with a much older teen. I found I am too ready to jump in and give opinions and advice where not needed. When they come to us, stop, think, listen and then speak. What we think we are saying is not always what they are hearing. Good insight into communication skills that can be applied in any relationship.

      Finally skills and tools I can use and which feel authentic.

      If you have younger kids, or need tools/skills more clearly explained try “How to talk so kids will listen…” in addition to this book.

      Fairly patronising at times, but it was a bit of a refresher on how to communicate with your kids in a way that promotes acceptance and openness. I read the kids version of this book years ago, and it has been adapted for teens but there was a lot of overlap as you would expect.

      Wow. This book seems amazing. I work with teens and I look forward to using some of these with them. I've also noticed, I already do some of these with kids of all ages. This is a great book with wonderful comics to help get the message across.
