- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Loved the plot and the characters but I felt that the ending should have been a bit longer. It felt cut off. If there had been another chapter or an epilog, I would have rated it higher, but overall I enjoyed it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is probably my favorite story out of the dark series. It is a fun book that tells the story of a young woman struggling to take care of herself and her little brother. After her parents died tragically she is forced to assume both roles of mother and father to her brother and expected to somehow put food on the table. While landing an important job interview the young woman is attacked by a rouge vampire. I will not give away the rest of the story, but I adore this story and have read it about 3 times! My copy is actually starting to fall apart. There is action, adventure, and a little sex thrown in. The only problem that I have with the book is that the Carpathians don't actually exist! That is just a tragedy in itself. I highly recommend this book and can confidently say that I am positive you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The third in the Dark series by Christine Feehan, this was the story of Aidan and Alexandria. This was a great story! I loved the characters. In 6 days, I should recieve the next book in the series (it is being reprinted.) I cannot wait to continue on in the series.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Alexandria was nearly turned into a vampire by Paul Yohenstria. She fights for her and her brother's lives.Enter Aiden Savage, a golden angel, from the skies. He kills Paul and was about to kill Alexandria thinking she was already of the undead. Then, colors falsed though his eyes. He cannot belive his luck when he picked up Alex and Joshua. He takes them to his home which was attended by Stephen and his wife, Marie. The couple are long time servants of Aiden who came with him from the Carpathian Mountains. He exchanges blood with Alex to try to dilute the vampire blood but she was converted instead. He couldn't believe his luck. Now, he had to tame Alex and teach her the ways of the Carpathians. Being bound to him, Alaexandria was in more danger. Her brother Jashua is in danger too. There are vampires worse than Paul who tried to take her. She must know how to be a Carpathian to protect Josh and eventually fall for her golden angel.Ok. Novel. Not so wow.Aiden is one of the Golden twins. His twin Julian will be mentioned here. Gregori will amke an appearance too.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5In this, the 3rd book in Christine Feehan's Dark (Carpathian) series, the story line seems to have become a little formulistic: girl meets tall, dark, handsome stranger, who turns out to be a Carpathian male, said alpha male saves girl's life and discovers she is his life mate, girl is inexplicably drawn to male but fights the attraction, girl is again placed in danger but comes to trust male and eventually they live happily ever after. Besides the same story, Feehan tends to repeat certain descriptions throughout the book. I counted at least 3 times she explained about the difference between a Carpathian and a Vampire. I've almost given up on this series, but I've heard that it starts to get better around book 5, and since I have up through book 5 here, I figured I'd at least give it that long and then decide whether to proceed from there.Since I'm not a huge fan of romance for the sake of romance, if it doesn't have some other mystery or action going on in the story, I was hoping for a bit more in this one as well. Yes, Alex was put in danger a couple of times, as was her little brother Josh, but never at any point did you wonder about whether they'd actually be able to save themselves. And it seemed a smaller part of the story than the attraction between Aidan and Alex, which makes this a romance book first and foremost. One thing I think Feehan does do well is character development. Her character descriptions are so vivid, if a bit too flowery at times, so that you can clearly picture the characters in your head, and understand their actions and reactions. It is only because of this that I'll give this book the benefit of the doubt and give it a halfway rating, as I feel romance readers would probably appreciate it more than I.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The protagonist, Alexandria, was easy to like, but I wanted to see her fight even harder than she was during the book. There was a lot of the "silent treatment", until Aiden asserts himself (typical make dominance romance novel). I was happy with the ending, but I had hoped Feehan would put more fire in the main character and more compromise in her "hero". I would recommend this book for adults (females).
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5With more than 20 books in this series and interesting sounding plots I had high hopes but just did not like. Plenty of fans of these bestselling books so I believe I am in a minority so did force myself to read first few in series before making a judgment call. All the female characters are whiny, needy things and plots are rather predictable.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dark Gold is the 3rd book in Christine Feehan’s Dark (Carpathian) series. This book centers on Aidan Savage. He is born of the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. He is 800 years old. Like others of his race, he drinks blood; he can shapeshift; he has telepathic abilities; and he can not go in the sun. Like all Carpathian men, he lost his emotions and his ability to see in color after he turned 200. Those gifts will not return unless he finds his lifemate, the other half of his soul. If he does not find her, he will lead a barren existence, until he chooses to end his life or become vampire, an evil being who kills and inflicts misery on others.Aidan finds his lifemate, Alexandria, in the clutches of a true vampire. The beast is trying to take her for his own mate. This vampire has tortured Alex and her 6-year old brother to a point where, when Aidan first sees her, he thinks she is a deranged vampiress and attacks her. Once he realizes his mistake, through seeing the red blood on her neck, a clue that he has found his lifemate by seeing true color, he gives her his blood to save her life. After her brutal attack, Alex does not see the difference between Aidan and a vampire.Aidan brings Alex and her young brother (who she is raising) back to his home. He realizes that the vampire had two blood exchanges with her –and his own blood exchange was the third necessary to convert a human woman to Carpathian. The conversion is hard on Alex and she doesn’t want it. She fights her attraction to Aidan. She fights becoming Carpathian. It’s hard to see her stripped of her choices; her independence ripped away.Even though Aidan killed the vampire who first kidnapped Alex, another is searching for her, which puts her life in danger. And there is drama in that, but the real issue at the center of the book is her fight against what she has become and her fight against her feelings for Aidan. It takes a long time for her to get past the idea that he is using his telepathic abilities to make her want him, as he pushes his will on her in so many ways. Of course, the sex scenes are pretty hot. That’s one thing you can always count on in a Carpathian book. I thought Ms. Feehan did a fantastic job at building up the impending romance between Aidan and Alex and the building up of such was believable and made the book a true page turner. I enjoyed this book. It was fun to see the heroine running away from our hero, despite the fact that he is gorgeous, rich and head over heels for her. 5 stars.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I can't do it anymore. [Poke poke eyes.]And I can't even tear the book up because it's an ebook...This book is even worse than the first book. All the way to page 80 (of 182) and it's still: the woman:'I can't do this, I'm not evil' and the man 'you're my lifemate and I'll teach you' - which, translated, means he'll use his masculine power (a.k.a. penis, though of course it's not called that in this book, it's usually the 'masculine power behind his zipper') to take her virginity.Of course, intermixed with all this is her uselessness and frailty and waffling from minute to minute and his strength to help and support and 'teasingly mock her with his masculine mind' because that's what real men are supposed to do.It's just crappy writing, and crappy characterizations, and the author relies on stereotypes so she doesn't have to put any thought into her writing.Skip this series - go read the Black Dagger Books which have very similar themes, only written so it doesn't stink of cheese.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love is not a word to dicribe the feelings in this book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5So the "arrogant" part continues but I think in this book she ends up giving a better explanation of why. I really liked Aiden/Alex arc--it showed growth on both of their parts and showed that they were willing to work on it. I loved Aiden's human family and that they were an important part of the story! All in all it was a fun escapist read :)
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not a fan of this series. I get about 100 pages in - by that time I'm both sick of the writing and unfortunately can't stop reading without feeling like a total quitter. I won't be picking up any more of these. Writing and characters are trite, the concept of the world is kind of interesting, but unfortunately the details are flat and annoying.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Liked the book but I don't feel like there was a strong enough connection between Aidan and Alexandria.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An important job interview for Alexandria Houton ended in a nightmare. Witnessing a vampires destruction and then being taken by him along with her younger brother Joshua, Alex had no idea what this monster wanted with her. The appearance of Aidan Savage did not make her feel any better. He seemed to be the same kind of monster and his treatment of her wasn’t much better. They had both done awful things to her that made her feel pain, but Aidan had taken her and her brother to his house and seemed to be caring for her. All Aidan had know for centuries was his loneliness, his dark existence, but as he went to finish off the monsters he realized that the women gave him color. Could this be his lifemate? Realizing too late, he knew that the vampire had already started the change in her and he needed to finish the change, with his own blood. As with all Carpathians, the first priority was to keep his lifemate safe, and in this case, her brother too. Alex thought she had a to be caught in the nightmare still, the things this beautiful man said to her, it could not be true. She still wanted to be human even if she was starting to believe it wasn’t true.Book 3 - Another example of this addictive series. Alex's sarcasm and defiance was fun to watch, but Aidans frustrations over her was more fun. After meeting Aidan (Dark Desire) it was nice to see his interaction with his human family and the way he took to Josh. Alex made a rather quick change from disbelief to acceptance and seeming to understanding everything. Didn’t talk about Alex’s psychic abilities much, but I enjoyed to contrast between Carpathian and vampire as well as the chance to see Gregori again, so much more information about that ancient, I am excited his story is coming.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Aidan has the patience of a saint, and Alexandria is dumber than a box of rocks. Nevertheless, this was a likable entry in the series. it does relatively little to push forward the series arc plot, but does cameo Gregori to show more of his character, and give some important setup for his book. We get to see Aidan's human servant family, and they're pretty awesome. We get to see some nice ghoul action, and creepy vampire shenanigans. This is Aidan Savage and Alexandria's story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this particular Carpathian. His mate, Alexandria, was and incredibly strong minded woman, who knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. The struggle she went through after what happened to her just showed how much strength she had in her. Her relationship with Aidan slowly grew into something beautiful where two people stand up for each other and help each other without hesitation. Joshua was the most sweet child, who understood that everything his sister did was to provide a better life for him. Marie and Stefan were two great secondary characters also, always showing their loyalty to Aidan. This was incredible.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The female protagonist was quite annoying, while once again the male was ridiculously charming. We don't care about your little brother, focus on the couple, people!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Christine 's writing style. Hot scene but not trashy. Each book always has me in the edge of my seat waiting to see how it turns out. ?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Again i wanted to take the male Carpathian and beat his head against a wall, but other than that i liked this one too.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As with every book in this series, I loved it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5love it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I adore this series. Full of everything I could ask for.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5love this series
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Feehan again proved that each book will be different. Our Life Mates in this book are Adian and Alexdria. Adian is blond haired and golden-eyed. This makes him very unusual in his race. Adian is forced to convert Alex because she is attacked by a Vampire. The whole of the book is mostly Alex coming to terms with her new life, and how it both seperates her, and brings her closer, to her brother. At times I just wanted to tel Alex to "get over it" and accept what she had become, and at times I understood her feelings, and misgivings. On the whole, this is another very well written novel. I will continue to read the series. They seem to be getting better with each book!
