Full review to be posted soon:

I have mixed feelings about this book, the romance was great and the overall tone had a fun and quirky vibe to it. I enjoyed the witty and humourous scenes, however at the halfway point I really got annoyed by the side characters which overwhelmed the story. I really felt that too much was going on at the end and it felt forced especially Brody and Melissa's exes and Ella Joy. They also overshadowed the plot which involved Melissa's grandmother and I thought that was detrimental to the story and characterisation and the romantic conclusion suffered at the end.

This was a rather cute story involving a lady journalist and a fireman. I decided to read this book after spotting the cover on GR and found it mostly enjoyable. Captain Brody was appropriately drool-worthy, especially if you have a thing for firefighters (which I do.)

I also particularly enjoyed a few of the side-characters, including the two "villains" of the story. Melissa's ex and the extremely annoying Ella. I kind of like that they found each other and I almost wish the dysfunction of their relationship could've been further developed. Melissa's grandmother was also fairly likable even if her last ditch effort to get Melissa and Brody together did seem kind of crazy and a bit outlandish.

This book would have been four stars if not for two things, one being that I didn't care for our heroine, Melissa, overly much. At times I found her both abrasive and rude. The second reason is because most of the conflict between the hero and heroine could have been resolved if they had just talked to each other.

I will probably pick up the second book in the series and hope that the heroine of that book is more to my liking. I already know I like Ryan (the hero in the next book) and I'm looking forward to seeing him live out his affirmations.

Book was decent, a little long, too long to get to resolution IMO.

I really enjoyed this cute and spicy romance. Melissa is a news producer who thinks her ideal man is going to be someone in the arts or a cultural profession. Harry is a FD Captain who thinks Melissa is a refreshing change from his ex-wife who chewed him up and spit him out. They meet when Melissa's grandmother buys a bachelor fireman at a charity auction, an auction where Melissa meets Harry and blows him off. Through a mix up in communication Melissa and Harry end up on the date instead of the purchased bachelor. There is a strong attraction between the two of them but Melissa is not sure what she really wants. Harry has to patiently prove that he is the guy for Melissa.I liked the fact that Melissa gives Harry a hard time about going out with him, even though he is hunky, nice, and interested. The relationship starts out as a friendship and progresses realistically. Once they get together, wow, it is pretty amazing. There are some complications- snarky ambitious co-workers, trust issues, misunderstandings, but they communicate after a near tragedy and the relationship gets worked out. There are two other storylines going through the book, one involving Melissa's father who has a history of alcohol abuse and one about a young foster child in an abusive situation. The foster child storyline is not as integrated into the book as I would have preferred but the line about Melissa's dad is well done and believable.I had not read this author before and I see that there are additional books planned about the Bachelor Firemen. I will eagerly look for the next books to read in the series.

This is the book with which I lost my (romance novel) virginity. So let's see what this "romance novel" thing is all about. It's about corniness, sexy time, love (above all, true love), and fun. I was laughing aloud from the opening page where I read "The words on the poster were black, the background an orange fireball, and, front and center, a hunky fireman gripped his hose." Booyah! I'm hooked. How long will it take feisty television news producer Melissa McGuire and hunka hunka burning love fire captain Harry Brody to finally and irrevocably realize that they're truly meant for each other? Spoiler alert: by the end of the book (sorry to spoil that for you). In between a whole lot of soap opera-y goodness goes down (as does one uppity lady newscaster who LITERALLY goes down, um, on some guy). Not a lotta erotica, but a few hot scenes break up the emotional roller coaster. I found the book to be well written, paced, and plotted. The sexy time in it is written above average, which isn't a surprise since the author, Jennifer Bernard, moonlights as a dirty book writer. Ms. Bernard's good at this!Anyway, I had a lot of fun reading this trashy romance novel, and I give it 4 out of 5 stars because, frankly, firemen aren't my gig. Now librarians, that's another kettle of romantic fish. Anyone got an extra copy of Lust in the Library: An Erotic Novella? Note: I received a free copy of this book for review purposes via the Amazon Vine Program.

So, I don't know if I'd me mad, embarrassed, or think I had the best grandmother ever, if she won me a date with a smoking hot firefighter. Well that's what Melissa grandmother, the noisy "Nelly," did in Jennifer Bernard's first book of her new series "The Fireman Who Loved Me." Furious at her grandmother, Melissa gives in to her grandmother and goes on the bachelor auction date, and meets Captain Brody who is her complete opposite. With a romance she thinks is not meant to be and a meddling grandmother, and ex's getting in the way, Melissa and Brody must decide where their hearts lay.A great quick read, I would definitely recommend this to any romance reader. Can't wait to get my hands of the next “Bachelor Firemen Novel,” and read about the next bachelor from the San Gabriel bachelor firehouse.

In Bernard’s romance novel, heroes are called bachelor firemen of San Gabriel. But heroes or not, bad luck follows them. News producer Melissa McGuire and Fire Captain Harry Brody are as opposite as opposites can be. But they have one thing in common: they believe they are wrong for each other regardless of the attraction simmering between them. Nelly, Melissa’s matchmaking grandmother, hauls her off to a bachelor auction only to send sparks flying. Add a conniving coworker, a handsome firefighter, a courageous little boy, a duo of exes, a curse, and one hell of a big fire, and Melissa and Brody won’t be the only things in town burning.A Bachelor Fireman Novel, what a great concept!

SummaryMelissa McGuire, is a new producer and came to San Gabriel to be with her grandmother. Her grandmother is always trying to find ways to get her married and hitched, and Melissa is at the end of her rope. When her grandmother asks her to come to an event but doesn’t tell her what it is, Melissa comes. When she arrives she is shocked to discover the amount of women, and that it is an auction of hot and sexy firemen. She is appalled and she can’t believe her grandmother would have her here…its embarrassing…and what woman would do such a thing….apparently all of the city of San Grabriel. But when her grandmother bids on the hottest of the firefighters, Ryan, she can hardly believe her eyes. But at the time of the date, her grandmother fakes being sick and Melissa is forced to go in her stead…but its not Ryan that shows on the door…its the captain, Brody. Brody is the Fire Fighter captain, and has worked hard to get to that position. When his best friend Ryan, begs him to take over the date with the elderly lady, Brody reluctantly agrees. But he is pleased to discover that his date will be the gorgeous granddaughter. Sparks fly, tensions rise….and they share one whopper of a kiss that seals their fate….but certain disasters occur that could keep them apart…will their love be enough to withstand the coming tide? The HeroBrody, isn’t trusting of women, he is divorced from a woman who was flighty and not committed to the relationship. But he loved her and care for her and she didn’t. Brody is determined to focus on his job and working on his house. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for a sexy news woman, which is the last thing he needs. But Brody finds her breathtaking, witty, fiery in her standards, and independent. Brody is a hero to adore, I love the way he is with his men, a commander and a leader, sexy as sin, plus he is good with his hands. He played the perfect role for the story. The HeroineMelissa hasn’t had time for relationships, and quite frankly after being betrayed by her ex, she decided to focus on her career and her grandmother and forget about men and the problems the come with them. Melissa is driven, independent, protective of her grandmother, but has lost her “zest” At first she seemed to be a bit of a door mat at times…very passive and not a fighter at all, especially when her crazy “friend” (if we could even call what they have true friendship) take over on everything. But we do see her fight back eventually, it just takes longer that you would think, but when you find out how she got burned in her previous job, it makes her seem more human at times, and we see a side of human nature that is true but we might not like to see. But what I loved most was seeing her true form come back and fight for what she really wants. By the end her character seemed to explode for me…and I loved the way the author worked that in.Plot and Story LineThe Fireman Who Loved Me is the first book that I have read from this author. With her new series coming out next month, I just knew I needed to try this series out…and quite frankly I was long overdue reading this book, because hot and sexy single firemen??? Oh hot mama…count me in. After reading The Fireman Who Loved Me is the first full length novel of the series, and what drew me in was the first few pages…it is rare for me to get so fully involved in a story within the first pages…but Jennifer Bernard succeeded and I was bursting into giggles on my break at work…I tell you, the stares made everyone think I was a nut case…but I don’t care, it was freaking hilarious. This is probably the moment I fell for the heroine, because she seems very self-assured and confident and so embarrassed to be at a event that showcases men’s bodies (no matter how hot they are), and tries to hide under the table with her grandmother sitting proudly next to her. The grandmohter…now she was hilarious and I wouldn’t be surprised if she would have been a “flower child” back in the day, she is vibrant and wild and so funny to watch her interactions. But what was sweet about this grandmother, is that she is dying from cancer, and she wants her granddaughter happy in love and married before she goes, and she will resort to any means to make that dream come true. Now the one person I didn’t like was the friend, Ella. She is one piece of work, selfish in every way. But there is a little sub plot with a man who is her perfect match in every way…literally. What was also fun was the commaderie of the firemen. I loved them all, and I can hardly wait to read their stories…especially Ryan’s. What made this story quite wonderful was the sweet love story that develops, and the crazy mishaps that happen….but overall this is a blazing hot romance to sizzle your toes. The CoverI really love the cover..its flirty and playful, and gives off the tone “sweet romance” and I just love those abs on our Fireman….whew he is sexy HOT right?Overall ViewThe Fireman Who Loved Me is a sexy read to burn you if you’re not careful. It’s a story of fighting for who you love, of crazy circumstances that bring two people together, how opposites really Do attract…and a poignant love story to make you scream for more. DELICIOUSLY ROMANTIC!
