About this ebook

Have you ever gone just a little too far? Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it's more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he's been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years . . . and is so off limits. It's a good thing she's leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can't seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt . . . and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon . . . only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro's signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn't know what to think. She's torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn't want and the man she can't have. And she isn't sure how she can live with herself either way.

3.5 stars I liked it, but I did not love it. I found myself skimming over some parts in the beginning.

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

    Lexie Banks has.

Lexie, On the rebound from her ex-boyfriend turns to the one person who always is there for her, who always listens to her and who she can always tell everything to Her step-brother/Best friend. One thing leads to another and they end up sleeping together.

Then Lexie leaves for Rome for a year for school. Once there she feels that what she did with Trent was totally wrong, but she can't seem to get him out of her head. They both feel what they did was wrong, and they fear what their parents will think.

Lexie decides to go to church and confess her sins. once there the Priest gives her something to do to redeem herself and get her mind off of the situation. A project with an up and coming priest Alessandro Moretti. Lexie is an art Major so she agree's to do it and she finds she is enjoying it and she is enjoying spending time with Alessandro. he is easy to talk to, he is a good listener, and the more time she spends with him she is discovering that she has feelings for him.

Alessandro, has always thought he needed to become a priest, it was god's will for him. Spending time with Lexie has him second guessing his path he has chosen.

Trent, Loves Lexie, wants to be with her, but fears what their parents will think of the two of them together.

Will Lexie stay in Rome with Alessandro or will Her and Trent give into their feelings and be together?

This is a love triangle, which I am not a big fan of, but I am glad I read this book. Both guys are sweet, lovable characters. I was a little conflicted as who I wanted Lexie to end up with, but in the end I was happy with her decision. I look forward to book #2 in the series.

Lexie Banks is home for the summer from college. She has been avoiding her ex-boyfriend of since they broke up after she found out he was cheating on her. She thought she was past it all, that is until she sees him again, and now she has doubts. Her best friend and confidant is her stepbrother Trent. Lexie's Dad married Trent's mom when they were younger, and Lexie and Trent just clicked and have gotten along ever since. He has been there for her through ups and down, holds her when she cries, laughs with her, plays Warcraft with her, even sings to her. This time, though, they went a little too far and wound up having the most amazing sex they ever imagined. Confused, they don't know quite how to deal with what happened or their newly awakened feelings for each other. Lexie leaves a couple of days later to spend the school semester in Rome Italy. She can't get Trent out of her mind, and she has come to realize just how much she cares for him in a not so sisterly way at all. Trent also has feelings for Lexie, but after a misunderstanding regarding some text messages and Lexies best friend Sam, they both decide they need to nip it in the blood - or as Lexie says, pray that she doesn't burn in hell. Lexie winds up meeting the handsome young Alessandro Moretti, a deacon who is in the process of becoming a Catholic Priest. She and Alessandro hit it off and end up working on a project together, spending a lot of time together, and well.....Alessandro begins to question his vow of celibacy. One thing leads to another, and Lexie finds herself in the middle of a big mess.....again. Forced to come to terms with her feelings, Lexie must decide who she wants and what she is going to do about it. A Little Too Far is a really fun story. The stepbrother angle isn't awkward at all and is written really well. I liked Lexie, though she could be a little immature at times, especially considering she is a junior in college. I really liked both Trent and Alessandro, but I have to say she chooses the guy I was hoping she would. The setting and the details about Rome and some of the art history there really added a lot to the book. There were also several secondary characters that were interesting. I especially liked Lexie's friend Abby. The romance was hot, and there were some really steamy scenes. The premise and the story line itself were both entertaining and fresh in my opinion, and I was really pleased with the way the story ended, but then again the guy I was rooting for won. The series will continue with A Little Too Much, which is coming out in November. I am looking forward to reading that, but I can't say too much about why, because it is a major spoiler for book one. A Little Too Far is a fun new adult contemporary romance and if you enjoy that age group and genre, then this is a book you might want to check out.

I’m going to be honest, I read the first few chapters, and the last few, and skipped 65%-70% of the middle. The first section of the blurb mentions her having sex with her step-brother… and how big of a mistake it was, so good thing she’s going to Rome, so she can forget all about it. The rest of the blurb talks about this girl going to Rome, meeting a soon-to-be priest and how their relationship leads him to have the moral dilemma of choosing her over the priesthood. It was obvious from the first few chapters and connection between Trent and Lexie that this was the HEA of the story, so as soon as she got on the plane I skipped ahead until they were together again. The rest seemed superfluous and unnecessary to their story, so it got skipped.I get that Lexie was running from what she thought wasn’t right, but I also get their relationship and chemistry. I’m not bothered by the idea of stepsiblings turning into more. They tend to be as close as non-blood-related people can be. It probably happens more than people realize. So why not focus the book on them? Why bring in a tertiary character, string him a long and lead him on like that? It really turned me off that this innocent bystander was brought in for this girl to mess with his head, act selfish, and then turn tail and run back to the guy she really wants to be with. I really get annoyed with girls like that. I would have enjoyed the book much more had it just been about Trent and Lexie, because I enjoyed almost everything that focused on them.It did bother me that they didn’t respect their parents enough to not sneak around and have sex right under their noses (or above their heads). I mean, keep it in your pants and get a room other than your old bedrooms in your parents’ house. That perspective is probably because I’m no longer a horny teenager/20-something, and have transitioned into the role of parent. The heat was pretty up there, sex scenes were great (except for the majority of their locations) and the relationship explanation was plausible. Trent is a sweetheart, I love that he writes her songs, but how clueless is she? The first song he wrote to her he puts his heart out on his sleeve, and seems to leave it there for the next few years, and she’s oblivious. Given 3 out of 5, because I liked most of what I read, even though I technically DNF.Rating: 3HEAT Rating: HotReviewed By: Daysie W.Courtesy of: My Book Addictions and More

I know a few readers will be turned off when they read the synopsis about Lexie sleeping with her stepbrother. Most will view it as a taboo subject, but in reality it does happen. I knew a girl in high school who fell in love with hers although they didn’t grow up together. When I read the synopsis for Lisa Desrochers’ A LITTLE TOO FAR, I was intrigued. When the opportunity came to review it for a blog tour, I couldn’t pass up the chance. Narration is first person via Lexie and we get to experience Rome through her. She’s a good narrator and I often felt as if I were in Rome with her experiencing the food, sights, and smells. If you’ve visited Rome, you’ll easy fall into place with memories of your own travel as you read. It’s pretty evident Desrochers knows art and some readers might be overwhelmed with the amount of art history. I’ll admit I was bored in some places, but then again I’m the type to see an art exhibit in under 10 minutes. Character development is a bit weak, but mostly with Lexie and Trent. I wanted to see her grow as a character, but at times she frustrated me. I think it has to do with the Catholic guilt and as a Catholic, I know what is and how it feels. Even though she goes to confession and admits to sleeping with Trent, she doesn’t let go of the guilt. I realize it’s not an easy thing to do. I did like that Lexie was independent and driven. She wanted that internship for the summer in Rome and would do anything to obtain it. Trent is difficult for me to assess because he’s not in the picture entirely. We kept hearing from Lexie how great Trent is and how in sync they are, but I didn’t feel it. It is apparent they care for each other and have a good relationship, but we didn’t have enough of him to make a proper assessment. Then we have Alessandro who was well developed and it was easy to see why Lexie was comfortable with him. We have a few secondary characters that make an appearance including one of Lexie’s friends and I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil things. All I will say is, I wish I could be a fly on the wall when an important conversation takes place between them. There’s nothing wrong with Desrochers’ writing ability. I commend her for tackling a taboo subject with both Trent and Alessandro. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. I debated with the rating between a three and four and in the end, decided on a three. The reason? We spend so much time with Alessandro and getting to know him. While I liked Desrochers’ writing and the interaction between Lexie and Trent, I didn’t feel as if they belonged together. Trent often felt like the odd man out and he’s off trying to live his life as Lexie moves on in Rome. Even when Lexie sent him text messages, they were very short responses and they didn’t communicate often enough. When we had scenes with Trent it was Lexie going out of her way to approach him. It was difficult to feel anything for Trent. It’s important in a romance to feel that connection with the hero, otherwise it just doesn’t work. Throw in the other person who does spend a little over 75% with the heroine and it complicates things. In the end, Desrochers doesn’t give us anything to make us dislike Alessandro. If you’re a fan of New Adult, you probably will enjoy Lisa Desrochers’ A LITTLE TOO FAR. If you’re unsure, download a sample and see if you’re interested enough to continue. While, A LITTLE TOO FAR didn't work for me, I am looking forward to reading Alessandro’s story and cheering him on.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales. Quick & Dirty: A very scandalous and sexy New Adult book with a unique story. It is filled with steamy romance, engaging characters, and true love.Opening Sentence: MY EX IS a douche. The Review:Lexi Banks has done some things in her life that she’s not proud of, but sleeping with her stepbrother Trent would be at the top of that list. But if being with Trent was so wrong, then why did it feel so right to Lexi? For the last year Lexi’s love life has been a hot mess. Her long time boyfriend cheated on her while she was away at school and now she has slept with the one person she could confide in completely. Ever since their parents got married Trent has been her best friend and confidant. Sure there was always an underlying attraction between them, but they never acted on it till now. Can they go back to the way things were and forget it ever happened or will their relationship be changed forever?Lucky for Lexi she has a year to figure things out. She is going to school aboard in the beautiful city of Rome. Upon arriving in Rome Lexi has found that she feels extremely guilty about what happened back home, and she decides that it is time to clear her conscience. She goes to confession and spills her soul. But instead of finding comfort she finds a gorgeous Deacon getting ready to become a priest. As they spend more time together they develop a strong friendship and possibly something more. Lexi is torn between a man she shouldn’t want and a man that’s off limits.Lexi is a great protagonist. It was a little hard for me to connect with Lexi because her moral compass was so skewed, but that made her entertaining and unpredictable. So even though I couldn’t really relate to her, I still found her an interesting character. She is funny and clever. Her dialog was witty and the more I was in her head the more I liked her. It was interesting to see the internal struggle she went through between following her heart and abiding by the social norms. Overall, she was a fun character with an interesting story. There is a fine line between scandalous and just plain gross. I felt that Lexi’s love life flirted with that line. For all intents and purposes, Trent was her brother so the way she felt about him seemed so wrong. Obliviously they aren’t technically related, but in my head they might as well have been. As Lexi tries to move on it seems that Trent keeps creeping back into her mind. She can’t help but think that one time with him was the most unforgettable moment of her life. Trent really was a great guy; he has been there for Lexi through everything. They had really hot chemistry and seem to go really well together. So no matter how many degree’s of wrong it was, I still found myself secretly wanting them to end up together. Then there is the irresistible Deacon. Lexi feels safe with him and doesn’t think that anything could ever happen between them. She is so hurt from losing Trent that she needs to fill that void somehow. They have a slow connection, but it blossoms into a beautiful friendship. I loved the stolen moments and the longing looks they would exchange. I found myself slowing falling in love with this desirable Deacon, with his tortured past and caring heart, it was hard not to love him. I really enjoyed experiencing his and Lexi’s relationship; it was hot and sweet at the same time. This was a really good read for me. I thought that the story was unique and entertaining. The romance was sexy yet very sweet. The characters were interesting and well developed. The fact that Lexi goes from one forbidden love interest to another is a little over the top, but that is what makes the story so intriguing. I felt that the end of Lexi’s story was very satisfying. She ended up with the person she was meant to be with, and I really enjoyed her story. There is going to be a sequel and I am super excited to read it. To avoid spoilers I’m not going to say whose story it is, but it was my favorite character in this book so I can’t wait. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a fun New Adult novel with fun characters and a sweet love story.Notable Scene:THE CHURCH IS very old, with sculptures in every corner and crevice. The only light in the room filters through cut-glass windows that stretch to the high ceiling above. Carved beams held up by immense wooden pillars support the ceiling, and most of the walls are ancient, painted frescoes, some of which are starting to crumble. The art history major in me wants to study them for hours, but that’s not why I’m here. When I see the carved wooden confessionals at the back, I freeze. Do I really want to do this?Oh, God.I dip my shaking fingers into the holy water and cross myself as I move to the back pew. The act of contrition seems like a good place to start, so I kneel and fold my hands in front of me, bowing my head and closing my eyes.“My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen.”I sit back in the pew, chewing the inside of my cheek, and look up at Jesus on the cross above the altar. Will he forgive me for having sex with my stepbrother? My face scrunches as the feeling of Trent on top of me flashes in my memory. But as much as it mortifies me, sitting here in a church and all, my body reacts without my permission, my pulse rising as an electric tingle races through my groin.I’m going to hell.FTC Advisory: HarperCollins provided me with a copy of A Little Too Far. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

This book.. was okay and I rated it per Goodreads standards.

    Loved:

The love interests. Both guys were super hot, protective, caring, and honest.

The taboo subject of the mc falling in love with her step-brother and then wanting a priest. (Due to Tiffany Reisz, I have a huge fantasy about hot priests.)

The setting is in Italy and France.. enough said!

The MCs friends are all great, they lend the right amount of comedic support.

The smexy times are freaking hot. From the beginning of the book to the end, A Little Too Far will make you flushed.

    Disliked:

The main character was wishy-washy, immature, and not honest with her feelings. I thought it was funny the first few times she said the Lords name in vain, especially in church. But she would often go on these rants, that usually made her sound like a bimbo (sorry if that sounds harsh). Also, she was always crying. Overall, I couldn't sympathize with her character, therefore I found her annoying.

The love triangle! I usually don't mind a love triangle, but the way this one unfolded didn't settle with me.

The ending, I don't want to spoil it, but Desrochers seemed to take the easy way out. Especially when the parents were confronted, and the letter between Alessandro and Lexi.

I will say that overall, it was readable and held my interests.. but it just didn't go the way I would've liked it. The plot was definitely different! I liked Desrochers' writing well enough, it had lots of details and had the right amount of emotions weaved throughout. I am definitely going to read A Little Too Much because I have to see how Alessandro's story turns out! I'm also hoping that I can connect to the main character. I don't like writing negative reviews :(

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers is September 2013 Harper Collins publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the author and Rock Star tours, in exchange for an honest review.Lexie's boyfriend of three years cheats on her multiple times after she leaves for college. When she finds out she breaks it off and makes plans to attend a college a thousand miles away and then takes an opportunity to attend classes in Rome. Before leaving, she comes home and stirs up a hornets nest when she has an awkward confrontation with her ex, she confides in her step-brother ,Trent, and the two of them end up doing the unthinkable. Next thing she knows, she is in Rome trying to sort out her feelings for Trent. Lexie decides to go to confession and meets a future priest named Alessandro. The two become friends. Lexie tries to put the past behind her, but her friend Sam keeps sending her text and emails bragging about going out with Trent. Each time she hears about Trent her heart twist. In the meantime she barely notices Alessandro's feelings for her are becoming more intense. Lexie stays in denial as long as possible until she nearly makes a dreadful mistake and pulls back just in time to do what needs to be done. But what will the fallout be? I had heard a great deal about this series. I am glad I finally got busy on it. I admit I didn't really know how I felt about the Trent and Lexie hook up. Awkward! I really thought maybe that wasn't a good idea. But what do I know? Like so many other people, I might have judged a couple that indulged in a relationship when they were technically family. Technically being the operative word. The truth is revealed in a way that takes some thought. I had that AHA! moment, finally, and realized how wrong my prejudice was. As for Alessandro, we haven't heard the last of him. He is a very conflicted character and I can not wait to read his story. Overall this book will get an A+

ARC provided by Edelweiss by publisher for a honest review.

I found the story between Lexi, Trent, and Alessandro to be very captivating. The opening of this book is about Lexi losing her boyfriend of three years because he is a douche bag. And while trying to deal with these emotions she has a mind-blowing sexual experience with her stepbrother.

She tries to deal with the emotions that she has for her ex-boyfriend (which are forgotten when she thinks of Trent and this is often). Trent has becomes a permeant fixture in her mind (sexually) and this is very confusing. But Lexi can run away from this as she goes to study abroad in Italy.

While in Italy she meets an almost priest, Alessandro, who opens her eyes to new things and helps her learn more about herself, in more than one way.

Though he is attracted to Lexi and it's yet a priest, but a deacon; he must learn how to fight these feelings he has for Lexi. He must think if being a priest is his calling or if he has just found the love of his life.

Lexi must chose to do the wrong thing (in societal eyes) or suppress her temptation. Which of the two men are the lesser of two evils. What choice should she make?
