About this ebook

Scottish beauty Roslynn Chadwick needs the safety of marriage to protect her from an unscrupulous cousin and the fortune-hunting scoundrels who covet her wealth. And Anthony Malory is precisely the sort of handsome rogue she's been warned against.

A cunning, ruthless, yet irresistible rake, Anthony's sensual blue eyes speak of pleasures beyond her imagining—and Roslynn dearly wishes she dared to surrender to such a man. Believing his passionate promises will surely lead to disaster. But denying her heart may cost the exquisite Highlands lady an unparalleled love hotter than flame and more precious than the rarest jewel.

This book, which is the second in the Malory series, is one of my all time favourites. Anthony Malory is a great leading man. He's funny, charming, bold and a fantastic fighter (in more than one sense of the word) when needed. Rosylnn is a firey tempered scot. She's got courage, spunk and knows how to hold her own against a rake like Tony. Both characters are so stubborn, that at some points you just wanna shake 'em but I like how they work through it. I am happy that both can admit they're wrong.

This story also shows some more of the Malory family and actually has my favourite little book joiners that some authors do... when the secondary characters are drawn to each other and seem to be having a sub story going on behind the scenes of the current story... be forewarned. If you haven't read the first book in this series, there are quite a few spoilers in this one, about that story. I am off to re-read another favourite book of mine. The third Malory Series! Gentle Rogue.

Roslynn is running for her life from her evil cousin Geordie who wants to forcibly marry her and steal her fortune. She runs across known rogue and womanizer, Anthony Malory, who is so smitten with her that though he's sworn never to marry, he offers to do so in order to protect her. I so much love this series.

I love Johanna Lindsey!! Her books always make me smile, cry, laugh and just really enjoy my time reading. This is book number 2 in the Malory novels and once again Johanna does a great job in making you love the Malory men and hate them at the same time. This is the story of Anthony Malory and Lady Roslyn Chadwick. Roslyn needs to marry in a rush so that her cousin doesn't marry her and steal the Chadwick fortune. Roslyn does not have Anthony Malory on her list of possible candidates but when he first sees her across the garden at one of the parties he is smitten and decided that she will be his next conquest. The story is entertaining because Roslyn is Scottish and when her temper is up she breaks into her Scottish Brogue and that turns Anthony Malory on even more. You are once again seeing Regina and Nicholas Eden, James, Jason, Edward, Jeremy Malory and the whole Malory clan. The Malory brothers are surprised when Anthony Malory decides to ask Roslyn to marry him. Their marriage is one that Roslyn doesn't want because Anthony is a rake and she knows that her heart will only be broken because you can never change a rake. I loved how Roslyn would make rules for their marriage expecting Anthony to be thrilled with them. Such as letting him still have mistresses.

Okay, I'm cheating here, and I don't like them all equally, but I do love the Mallory's. They're all funny. I especially liked "Love Only Once" (the first book), "Gentle Rogue" (my favorite), and "The Magic of You" (where the heroine chases the hero shamelessly).

There were bits and pieces of this book that were a bit different from some of the others, in terms of setting, background, and so on. But on the whole, it was pretty formulaic to the rest of the series. This Malory family member is about as condescending and high-handed as most of the rest of them, and his intended-beloved is sort-of likable at the beginning; they actually get married, and all of a sudden, she turns into a psycho-jerk. I really wanted Anthony Malory to throttle her. I found myself rooting for him, and wanting her to get her comeuppance. I'm not sure that was Ms. Lindsey's goal.

I really loved the character of Anthony Mallory and it was good to see his character was the same in this book. I appreciated the fact the heroine was closer to him in age and also was just as stubborn. But what really made this book worth it to me is the interaction between Anthony and his brother James -- they should have their own book without any romance -- a real bromance book. LOL

I did feel the length of the tension between the Anthony/Roslynn was a little too drug out for the book. I would rather have had them declare their love for each other and tackle some of the drama as a couple instead of keeping them apart over a very simple little misunderstanding.

Overall a great addition to the Malory family of books. I look forward to reading the next one in the series.
