THE
RISING

SECRETS
OF THE
KRALUPI VALLEY

“BURIED AND SPOILED BY THE LACK OF HUMAN KNOWLEDGE”

In a small village called
Ginje,
in the vicinity of
Visoko
, were reported accidentalarchaeological discoveries of great importance. We went to see.

One of the rare statements worthy of note that continuously returns into my mind came fromProf. Dr. Rasim Dacić, Dean of University
Kiseljak
. He was one of the many tourists who visitedthe Bosnian pyramids and signed the Foundations Guestbook, he wrote:
“It is a shame that this treasure stood here all this time, buried by the lack of human knowledge”.
There isn’t more appropriate thought than the above that reassumes in few words thediscovery of the Bosnian pyramids and the controversy that followed. Few Bosnian andWestern project opponents inspired by interest-driven ideology and old-fashioned porkbarrel politics intentionally disregarded
the basic steps
in the procedure for obtaining‘objective’ knowledge of the past (i.e. archaeological praxis). Inevitably, the project of theBosnian valley of the pyramids, and the interpretation of archaeological data, of prehistoryitself, became the victims of such perverse mechanism; of what Dr. Rasim Dacić defined as
“…ashame”
and
“…the lack of human knowledge”
. Every railing accusation this cadre of doubtershas raised up through superficial scholarship, premature conclusions, or blatant bias comeout into the light of truth, while the accumulation of new evidence will inevitably lead to thecorrection of grossly inaccurate and politically biased views of Bosnia’s and Europe’sprehistory. So let’s provide gradually additional evidence that further supports Osmanagic’shypothesis about the existence of a monumental complex in
Visoko
and vicinity. The second site of our archeological itinerary is situated on the opposite side of the main roadand about one kilometer distant from the place where during construction works of a modernvilla many megalithic stone blocks came to light. The apparently “insignificant hill” dominatesthe central part of
Kralupi
valley and seem to hug like a ‘silent guardian’ the access road that

leads into the heart of the
Ginje
village, where the mosque is situated. During a long discussionheld with one of the village elders, it was told me that more than 50 years ago, few years afterWorld War II, from the roadside many of the megalithic blocks were still visible lying on thetop of the hill and its flanks, but that a great number of them was gradually removed byvillagers during later decades and used for the construction of foundations, walls and houses. The elder also told me that megalithic blocks were also found and taken from other places(hills) in the vicinity. Thus, it is reasonable and justified to presume that more potentialmegalithic sites are present in the area. Most villagers call the stone blocks
stećaks
(tombstones), which actually represents a misuse of the term in this case. Carefulinvestigation of every single stone block by Dr. Aly Barakat, Dr. Abu Bakr Moussa and othermembers of our group found no evidence that supports the hypothesis that these stone blocksare tombstones. On the contrary, all collected and available evidence suggests that thesemassive stone blocks actually are parts of ancient temples, or better, what left of them.

During the past decades many megalithic blocks were taken from the site and reutilized by villagers forthe construction of foundations, walls and houses, detail
While climbing the hill in question it is quite impossible to disregard in the distance thesilhouettes of the pyramids of the Sun and Dragon, but also those of other suspicious ‘hills’ inthe near surrounding areas. The sites of
Kralupi
valley, the megalithic stone blocks at the crest of the oval stepped formation lined up in row pointing towards the Bosnian pyramid of thesun seem to confirm the hypothesis of an intentional alignment between the different structures. Within the study of sacred landscapes, this is an important feature that has beenidentified in several European cultures (seeThe Northern Horizon at Ginjeby PhilipCoppens). The massive stone blocks (I could count more than ten) that are still integral part of the structure have been obtained from different raw materials: sandstone and greyconglomerate. The biggest megalithic block we have measured reached 230x100x65 cm
