The IMC-A2PCI computer system offers a rugged so-lution for a dedicated industrial controller systemwith an installed Atom processor for fanless opera-tion. The IMC-A2PCI is targeted at the mining andvehicular industries where a rugged design is re-quired to survive the extreme temperatures and highshock and vibration environments.The construction starts with a finned extruded alumi-num housing. This robust design allows fanless op-eration and provides high structural strength.The Intel Atom N270 Processor, running at 1.6GHz,provides ample performance for the intended envi-ronment. The Atom processor line is Intel’s ultra-lowpower offer-ing. The sys-tem supportstwo plug-inPCI cards. Anincludedwatch dogtimer will gen-erate a sys-tem reset on asoftware pro-grammabletime intervalfor failsafe op-eration.System I/O is very robust offering VGA and S-Videofor graphics, an audio output, four USB 2.0 and fourRS232 connectors. One of the RS232 ports can beconfigured for RS232, RS422 or RS485. A PS/2 key-board/mouse connector or one of the USB ports canbe used for a keyboard and mouse.Storage options include a Compact Flash slot, aPCMCIA slot and an internal shock isolated 2-1/2” hard drive.Input power is 9 VDC (@1.91A) to 30VDC (@0.69A).An external universal input AC adapter provides 90to 240VAC operation. The DC input allows directconnection to vehicular systems, either 12VDC ormilitary 28VDC.Environmentally, the unit is rated for –15 to +55 DegC operating and 5G rms for 5 to 500Hz (random)with a Compact Flash drive (CFD) or 1G rms, 5 to500Hz if a hard drive is installed. Shock is specifiedat 50G peak (11mS duration) with a CFD or 20G witha hard drive installed.The system has been tested to CE and FCC Class B.
