Christopher Mollon is an artist who makes performance-installation, action art/art action, sculptural intervention and visual image.
His practice relies on the identification of rural and maritime codes and signifiers. Through this, the works can often directly relate to matter such as the insignificance of man, the openness of landscape and naturally occurring geographical features.
Currently, Mollon is interested in wrecking and foraging his materials from areas of abandonment and solitude along the North Yorkshire coast.
Born in Scarborough, England, he now lives and works in Ravenscar (North Yorkshire). He holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Performance Studies, which he attained whilst at York St John University.
In 2011, he co-founded RIG (Rural Intervention Group) with artist, Graham Thirkill. Together, they create intervention situations where action and sculpture are practiced as a means to respond to site-specific space.
Mollon is also a member of P.A.I.R.S, a collective that seek to explore the nature of action art and the variety of its forms in relation to improvisatory practice.
