PLEASE ATTEND NOV 12 HOBNOB "FUNRAISER"!
PLEASE ATTEND NOV 12 HOBNOB "FUNRAISER"!FUN WAY TO MEET CANDIDATES!SUPPORT THE PARTY!PLEASE DISREGARD DISRUPTIVE COMMENTSDear OCREC members:I want to once again encourage you to attend our OCREC fall "Hobnob" from 6:30-9 PM on Thursday,November 12, 2009. This is a "funraiser/fundraiser" to help fill our coffers until our winter Lincoln Daydinner. This is not a required OCREC meeting and is there is no charge to attend. To raise funds, we will behaving a bake sale, silent auction, selling business sponsorships and having some fun games, however theprimary fundraising tool is selling tables to campaigns in exchange for participation in a straw poll and theopportunity for candidates to speak. Each purchaser of table will get a batch of tickets to give to supporters tovote in the straw poll. Additional straw poll tickets will be sold for$10 to anyone who wishes to vote, on a oneticket per person basis (a single person cannot buy 100 tickets and cast 100 votes). This is how ALL hobnobs work. It is no great secret that hobnob organizers are trying raise as much money aspossible by trying to get campaigns to buy as many tickets as possible to boost their respective straw pollresults. The idea is proibably as old as the pyramids, and is uniformly true of virtually every hobnob by everychamber of commerce and other organization in the country. This is hardly new with OCREC.Despite this rather straighforward and typical hobnob event format, many of you will have received an emailurging you to boycott this event on the fanciful grounds that it is some sort of "plot" by RPOF chair Jim Greeror others to "stack the deck" on behalf of Charlie Crist. As ususal with claims form this source, the charge isridiculous. In the first place, as already noted, this event works exactly the same way as every other hobnob. Nospecial accomodations or rules have been set for any candidate or candidates, not for Charlie Crist and not foranyone else. Also, the event was organized by an OCREC planning committee consisting of at least as manyRubio supporters as Crist supporters.Secondly, not only did Jim Greer not have anything to do with the event, but I do not even know he knows itexists. I have not discussed it with him, and we have neither contacted nor informed Mr. Greer of the event. Itis an OCREC event, not an RPOF event; I do not seek permission from the RPOF to do anything unless ourparty rules require it.Third, the Crist campiagn (not Greer) was notified of the event AFTER it was already organized and at the sametime as, or shortly after, all the other campaigns. For all we know, the Crsit campaign may think the event isunfairly stacked against IT - they have not given us any feedback of any kind so far (nor did we solicit any). Inshort, nothing in the rules, preparation, or organizing of this event in any way favors, or was created for, anycandidate.
