Leeds United to Leeds City Council: Elland Road and the Approach of Administration March - May 2007

The circumstances surrounding the summer 2007 administration of Leeds United continue to raise questions four years later. Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs have never been content with the manner in which Ken Bates retained control of LUFC, nor with the obscure ownership structures that kept him there. A documentary on BBC Yorkshire in October 2011, *Who Owns Leeds United?*, attempts once again to unravel this situation and establish just what went on as Leeds plunged into League One and almost out of business. As part of their investigation, the BBC obtained correspondence between the club and Leeds City Council through a Freedom of Information request that, while it does not form a central part of the programme, should be of interest to Leeds fans.
