Formosa namedtrack operator for 2012 season
The Metro Fair Board choseTony Formosa to operate racesat the Fairgrounds racetrack forthe 2012 season during its De-cember meeting.Formosa was awarded thelease unanimously over twoother groups vying for the bid.The season will remain atseven races, with all to takeplace at night. The lessee mustput up a $50,000 surety bond toensure taxpayers are not left onthe hook should the operatornot fulfill his agreement. All other neighborhood-related provisions, includingmuffler requirements, noiseceilings on practice, no racingduring school hours, and othercurfews, remain the same. The new lease also will issuea Request for Proposal for soundmonitoring for all events at thetrack, remedying an ongoingissue for the Neighborhood Ad-visory Committee regarding theavailability of noise measure-ments and data.Under the new lease, theNeighborhood Advisory Com-mittee also will meet more fre-quently during the year in orderto create a more open environ-ment for conversations betweenneighbors and the promoter.Heidi Favorite will remainthe SNAP representative on thecommittee, and SNAP will con-tinue to keep neighbors updatedon conversations between resi-dents and racetrack operators.

Wedgewood-Houston showed up onlocal news recently for the good deeds of a visitor to Nashville who helped stop acar burglar in the neighborhood. According to a NewsChannel5 report, aman was breaking into a car on Win-grove Avenue early one morning thismonth when a visitor next door spottedthe man and asked what he was doing. When the man took off, the visitorchased the suspected burglar through theneighborhood, retrieving a bag of stolengoods and eventually identifying the sus-pect for police. The suspect now faces twofelony counts of theft. While SNAP greatly appreciates thevigilance of all neighbors and visitors,SNAP encourages residents who see any-thing suspicious to get a description of those involved and call the Metro Nash-ville Police Department’s South PrecinctCrime Tip Line at 880-3816, or the non-emergency line at 862-8600.SNAP thanks the visitor for his help inkeeping our neighborhood safe, and theMetro Police Department for respondingquickly!
