When You said, Seek My face, my heart said to You, Your face, O LORD, I shall seek.

Psalm 27:8

Volume 13, Episode VII

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Lets PRAY: For all the students/disciples currently in the ADT offered by URFM. For the NEW seed of Spiritual Formation to find good soil and to grow exponentially. For NEW provisions to continue the Great Comm i s s i on God called us to do.

How are you during these days of summer? Do you think about having some free time? Perhaps a day or two of vacation? Picking up a good book and just soaking in the sun? It would be nice, wouldnt it? How about sched-

I assure you that it would be excellent!!! Lets try it. (IV) Quiet Time with the Holy Spirit: (Continuation from last issue . . .) Please have your favorite Bible available, a journal, and a pen. Set aside at least 15 minutes for this spiritual discipline. Go to a quiet place, either in your home or somewhere outside. If possible, a secluded and quiet place in a nearby park would be ideal. I As I wrote in previous issurrender my mind with all the sues, it is important to develop the spiritual habit of spending thoughts I have to You right now. quality time with the Word of God in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Remember that discipline and discipleship come from the same root. So why not start with Fifteen Minutes with God? Someone said that it is much better to spend fifteen minutes a day, consistently, than to have a one-hour guilt trip sporadically. I hope that if we start small and keep on increasing up to 30 minutes, then to one hour, or even more, we can really start experiencing deeper intimacy with God. Isnt this what we all, as disciples of Christ, really want? Then, lets start it: (1) Prepare your Mind to be in the Presence of God (0.5 minutes). Father God I really desire to spend this time in Your Presence. I surrender my mind with all the thoughts I have to You right now. Dear God, please capture my attention with Your Presence. I pray in the name of Christ. (2) Read your selected Bible Passage (4 minutes). For example you could read the Prayer of Paul for the Ephesians 1:15-23.

Colosians 3:2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. Psalm 105:4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.

(3) Mark Your Bible (1 minute). If If this is your everyday Bible feel free to mark in it the way the Holy Spirit impresses upon your heart.

Chritian Meditation is the process of deliberately focusing on specific thoughts (such as a bible passage) and reflecting on their meaning in the context of the love of God.

(4) Meditate on the Passage (3 minutes). If you are not familiar with Christian Meditation (in its biblical sense) meditation is the process of deliberately focusing on specific thoughts (such as a bible passage) and reflecting on their meaning in the context of the love of God. In other words it simply means to muse, or rehearse in your mind, that particular verse, thought, or revelation. For example, if I were to meditate on the passage from Ephesians 1:15-23, I would concentrate and meditate on If you are interested in becoming verse (18), I pray that the eyes of your heart may more like Jesus, URFM offers be enlightened, so that you will know what is the are the riches of the gloAdvanced Discipleship Training hope of His calling, what the saints. (5) Record Your Insights (3 minutes). It is now time to pull out your journal (if you have not done so already). Record, in your own words, the insights that the Holy Spirit has given to you. For example: Wow! God has a calling for me. I am wondering what that calling is? Maybe it is . . .

(6) Write your Prayer of Application (0.5 minutes). Now, in your journal, write your own prayer. Based on that passage, if I were you, I would write something like this: Father God, please open my eyes to see Christ with clarity, open my ears to hear the Holy Spirit with accuracy, open my mind to understand the Word with precision, open my heart to accept Your will with gladness, and give me the will to surrender totally to Your plan and calling in my life. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. (7) Pray Passage Back to God (0.5 minutes). At this point you could personalize Pauls prayer and pray it back to God. Or just pray one more time to God the prayer you wrote in step 6. (8) Pray about Other Things you Need. (2.5 minutes). Not too difficult, is it? Well, if we cultivate these quiet times and practice them on a regular basis, this may develop into a good habit. Bottom line is this: spending time with God is what our inner being really needs in order to grow and mature into the likeness of Christ. I like the lyrics of one Christian song: The more I seek You/The more I find you/The more I find You/The more I love You/. If you want to learn more about these subjects and many others, consider enrolling in our Advanced Discipleship Training (ADT) Program, provided ONLINE by URFM.
