Why sponsor a web conference in Second Life?

Sponsorship of a web conference focused on language learning in virtual worlds will raise your profile to key international professionals and institutions across the globe. Conference presentations feature language acquisition using virtual worlds, serious games, social media, sloodle, online teaching resources, research and other related fields. SLanguages is being livestreamed throughout using Adobe Connect and Livestream, allowing attendees without an avatar can to watch on whilst others in Second Life enjoy the immersive experience. All of the sessions are being recorded and there is a long tail of educators watching the recordings. Some 4000 recording views testify to this fact. Social media activities are high and many of the committee members are well established on twitter, facebook and other social media. There are some 650 members signed up on the community of AVALON, many with an academic background and high interest in language learning in virtual worlds. ABOUT SLanguages Annual Symposium

SLanguages Annual Symposium was founded by Gavin Dudeney of The Consultants-E in 2007 and in 2010 was taken over by a committee, lead by Gary Motteram of the University of Manchester. It is the only conference on language learning in virtual worlds and show-cases language learning in Second Life and other immersive 3D environment such as Open Sim, World of Warcraft etc. It is a magical conference that goes way beyond traditional conference presentations.

Tours, workshops, demo lessons, performances and theatre plays were all part of the past conferences. All of the sessions take place in the immersive 3D environment and are screen shared with Adobe Connect to provide a virtual window to a virtual world. SLanguages takes place for the 6th time this year.
