We hope life has been treating you well. we are also working hard on our side and the CAT project has made quite a milestone. We have been engaged with various donors on different program with main focus being North Rift Kenya. So far we have implemented programs on Legal awareness for torture victims ( By USAID KTI), rehabilitation for Victims of Post Election violence ( by Oak Foundation), Protection of witnesses of Post Election Violence ( this was one risky and sensitive program in our program- the funding came from Swiss Embassy), there was also a national cohesion program funded by the USAID OTI in Kenya. During the campaign for the enactment of the new constitution we were greatly involved with Maina Kiai where we secured a one month funding from InformAction. Asa at the moment God has blessed us with a 12 month project which will be funded by the UN Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights- UNVFVT program. So far I can say that we have successfully implemented these programs and gained confidence with donors. Except to say that we are still in need of more funding capacity as these programs only allocated moneys for implementation... we are working on ways to employ more staff, increase the office capacity and also be able to open more satellite centres around western kenya. At this point Joseph I wish to inform you that Advocate Machio of Machio and Company Advocates ( as you remember he is the one who represented the 2 officers accused of torturing one Isaac Mwaniki Gitari) died a natural death at his home in Elgon View on 27th February 2011. he will be burried on 12th march 2011.
