whose participants included panelists with extensive backgrounds in intelligence and drugenforcement, Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) wasted no time calling Clear andPresent Danger a complex anti-U.S. geo-strategic linking taking shape among the Iranianregime and its military cadre; Latin American overlords of criminalized and criminalizingstates; and transnational narco-terrorist networks – all of which are robustly operating in asynergetic fashion, increasingly unimpeded throughout the Western Hemisphere to movecontraband to and from lucrative world markets. Of particular concern was Iran PresidentMahmoud Ahmadinejad’s alliance with the co-revolutionists, which Ros-Lehtinen asserted provides a platform from which to carry out attacks against the U.S., its interests, and allies, directly through his country’s elite military unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Quds Force (IRGC-QF), and its proxy, Hizb’allah, both well positioned and operating in theregion alongside Iran’s intelligence services. Fresh on the participants’ minds were AttorneyGeneral Eric H. Holder Jr. and Federal Bureau of Investigation accounts, October 2011, of athwarted allegedIranian-backed assassination plot against Adel A. Al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabianambassador to the U.S., which was to include embassy bombings in Washington, D.C. andArgentina, as well as a sizeable drug deal

, is the U.S. really staring down a Clear and Present Danger to its nationalsecurity? I argue that such a threat today is quite plausible when considering Hizb’allah’smartyrdom-seeking mission, objectives, capabilities, modus operandi, and its devotion asimminent terrorist projector in service of the Iranian regime’s global jihadist revolution, which is being accelerated by an apocalyptic Ahmadinejad who is craftily maneuvering thesocialist Bolivarian axis of power-grabbing leftist leaders toward an anticipated overthrow of the U.S. from their Latin American stomping grounds. This paper will provide a generalsurvey of these multifarious developments as viewed through the lens of Iran’s expandingfootprint in the region – its key relations and activities. It will then present a backgrounder on Hizb’allah, its core activities, and major attacks applicable to this discussion. Next, it willexplore the TBA frontier, its history and characteristics; and Hizb’allah’s presence, associations, and activities stemming from this lawless region. Finally, it will conclude withcomments on the threat matrix vis-à-vis Iran’s willingness to use nuclear weapons, and shareits nuclear capability with Hizb’allah and others to accomplish its goals; and will offer concise recommendations to at least mitigate a situation that is spiraling out of control.

IRAN’S EXPANDING FOOTPRINT IN LATIN AMERICA:A Constitutional Quest to Export the Shi’a Global Islamic Revolution –
Atop its glorious ancient Persian perch, a prideful Iran looks down upon the U.S. as atransient, declining power, while it sees itself a rising international force to be reckoned withas it hastens its Khomeini-style “religious fight of Islam.

Shi’a empowerment is in highgear these days, a result of the problematic U.S. performance in Iraq, and the great stridesIran has made toward the realization of its controversial nuclear weapons program, observedAmerican Foreign Policy Council Vice President for Policy,Ilan Berman, in his testimony before the U.S. Committee on International Relations

. During that hearing, Dr. Col. (Res.)Eitan Azani, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Counter-Terrorism, Herzliya, Israel, pointed out that Ahmadinejad sees himself as promoter of the Second Islamic Revolution.Indeed, over the years, a militant, messianic Ahmadinejad has staunchly demonstrated that hewill not be deterred from exporting another Iranian Islamic Revolution – globally – as heworks to expedite the return of the “Hidden Imam,” Muhammad al-Mahdi, the Shi’a messiah:His drive reflective of his dedication from youth to the fundamental Mahdist teachings of theHojjaatieh Society, whose members went underground when the movement was suppressedin the early 1980s by Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who believed they threatened hisauthority. Today, Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi is looked to as leader of a newly resurrected

The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran is founded on the basis of “religious guardianship” or Velayat Faqiye, asset forth by militant Leader Ayatollah Khomeini, to advance the “fight of Islam, pressing forward the struggle of thecommitted Muslim combatants, inside and outside the country,” as recorded in the “Islamic Government” section. Under “The Religious Army” section, the document establishes the responsibility of the military to fulfill its “religious mission, which is Holy War” in the way of Allah to extend his “supremacy throughout the world.” Articles 113 and 121 lay down the  president’s duty to implement the Constitution in accordance with Muhammadan dictums and guidance from the “infallibleImams.” Articles 144 and 150 describe The Army of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as an Islamic army devoted tothe cause of guarding the Iranian Revolution and its achievements, and realizing its objectives; and during peacetime, Article147 requires the government to use its army for “Construction Jihad.” Article 151 is verse 8:60 of the Qur’an, which callsfor mustering the forces to ready for battle to strike terror into the enemies of Allah.
