Applying to Oxford University Stanborough School, Lemsford Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6YR Thursday 20th Sept. 7.00 pm This annual meeting is becoming increasingly popular among Herts County schools. Last year well over 200 pupils and parents attended from 17 schools. In a feed-back questionnaire 97% of respondents described the meeting as very useful or useful. The main speaker on behalf of the Universitys admissions office will be an admissions fellow from Balliol College. The meeting will be chaired by a current undergraduate and there will be a panel of three current undergraduates from Herts County schools, who will answer questions from the floor about their experience of Oxford. Their subjects are biochemistry, chemistry and Japanese. The chair's subject is geography. Further details at the beginning of next term. Calling all current & future Sixth Formers Have you ever dreamt of declaring war on another country or preventing human trafficking? If your answer is 'YES' (or if you just fancy doing something fun) then Model United Nations may be for you. At MUN conferences you represent a country in the United Nations, debate/discuss/negotiate ways to solve the major problems facing our world today and you get to meet lots of different people. MUN at Simon Balle is under new management and is on a recruitment drive. It doesn't matter if you're good at debating (we can teach you that), all we ask is that you give it a go. We will have a kick-off meeting at the start of next term. Did we mention that it will also look good on your UCAS application? So get involved...what's the worst that could happen? Have a good summer break. Mr Oldridge History Teacher and MUN Director CERTIFICATES Certificates will be ready for collection from 1st November 2012. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to send certificates to you by post as they have to be signed for. However, if you would like to arrange for a family member to collect them on your behalf please ask them to call into the exams office between 9am and 3pm. Please note we are only obliged to hold certificates for one year after issue date and after that time they can be destroyed. Exams Officer.
