Commitment and SuccessIf you are not committed to a thing, you will not experience success.Relationships are made successful only through relentless commitment. Goalachievement is not possible without a strong and firm commitment on your part.No action that you take will ever be impactful without commitment on your part. There are two barriers to commitment that I have already discussed in previousarticles. The two are clarity and certainty. Simply stated if you are not clear aboutyour goals your commitment will fade along with motivation to achieve. Certaintyof achieving will fade if you are not committed to the actions that you will have totake to succeed. We vacillate back and forth on some of our commitments. When one iscommitted to doing a thing, there is no escape clause. One of the finestexamples of commitment came to me through an art class. The instructor said“Once your pencil is on the page, realize that you are committed, that means youdo not take your pencil off the page until you are done, no matter how it looks.”I will tell you that you can feel the fear in the air after he made that statement. The thoughts that go through your mind are racing to defeat you. In this example,my first thought was, what if it isn’t right? I quickly realize it wasn’t a matter of right or wrong, it was simply a matter of commitment. I realize later in retrospectthat there was a reason why he said what he said. He simply wanted to see whowas really committed and who wasn’t. Why? Well, I believe he would be able tosee which students followed his instruction, so those would be the ones he willspend time with. Quite a test.Commitment is pursuing your goals, being relentless in your pursuit or course of action. It is persistence, being unstoppable in your pursuits. It is going that extramile to get you where you want to go. It is resolve, the decision that come whatmay I will achieve my objective. It is the consistent perseverance, the do or dieattitude, the never give up or never surrender mindset.Simply state if there is no commitment there is no success. Taking daily actionson your goals or objectives and persisting to do better each day is commitment. Asimple action of doing those things that you choose to do daily shows up in your life later on. This is why having someone to be accountable to helps and assistyou in being committed. A good life coach will keep tabs on your progress or belonging to a master mind group, will also be helpful.Commitment doesn’t comes from inside. If we are truly committed to a thing thenthere is no stopping us. Once you start there is no stopping until you arrive. Yes,there maybe some turns in the road, but keeping yourself committed to your goals will get you there.
