Night
)Monsoon Watch
The axis of monsoon trough currently lying north of its normal position and would shift southwards fromtomorrow.
The southwest monsoon was vigorous over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, andactive over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Konkan & Goa during 0830 hours IST of 18th to 0830hours IST of 19th.
 
Main Weather Observations
RAINFALL (From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today):
Rainfall has occurred at many places over WestBengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Orissa and Konkan & Goa; at few places over northeastern states, Jharkhand,Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at one or twoplaces over Gujarat, east Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm and above)recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Panagarh-6, Krishnanagar-5, Champa and Siliguri-4 each,Mahabaleshwar, Hirakud, Bahraich, Bilashpur and Uluberia-3 each and Agumbe, Sambalpur, Kolhapur, Bhira andMumbai (Colaba)-2 each.
CLOUDS: Kalpana-1
Cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of UttarPradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, AndhraPradesh, interior Karnataka, Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts ofthe country outside Punjab, west Rajasthan and Saurashtra & Kutch.
 
Meteorological Analysis based on 1730 hours IST
 
The western part of axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run close to foot hills ofHimalayas and eastern part passes through Hardoi, Fursatganj, Gazipur, Ranchi, Balasore and thence toeastcentral Bay of Bengal.
The off shore trough at mean sea level from Konkan coast to Karnataka coast persists.
An upper air cyclonic circulation has formed over north Bay of Bengal between 2.1 to 5.8 km above mean sealevel. Under its influence, a low pressure area may develop over northwest Bay of Bengal during next 1-2 days.

Major Feature of Weather Forecast up to 0830 hours IST of 22nd July, 2012
 
Rain/thundershowers at many places over east India, east Uttar Pradesh and north AndhraPradesh.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over northeastern states during next 24hours and decrease thereafter.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over west coast and Andaman & NicobarIslands.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarhand Vidarbha during next 24 hours and increase thereafter.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over west Madhya Pradesh,Marathawada, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat region during next 48 hours and increasethereafter.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over east Rajasthan and Saurashtra& Kutch during next 48 hours and increase thereafter.
Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over interior Karnataka andLakshadweep and at one or two places over west Rajasthan, south Andhra Pradesh andTamilnadu. 
Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over western Himalayan region and atone or two places over rest northwest India.
Weather Warning during next 3 days
 
Heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim,east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Konkan & Goa and Orissa during next 48 hours.
Heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on 20th and21st and Madhya Pradesh on 21st.
Weather Outlook for subsequent 4 days up to 0830 hours IST of 26th July, 2012
 
Increase in rainfall activity over Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
 
Rain/thundershowers would occur at many place along west coast, east and northeast India.
