A brief note to young men aspiring to be a Ranger. When you are at area your MEPS, ask for (at my time in the 80's) MOS 11X-Ray as well as checking for option 40. This MOS is stated Infantry, Airborne Ranger Unassigned. Remember, you do not have to take just any job thrown at you. If the particular job is not posted, you can always come back another day. If your recruiter gives you grief, simply state "I'm giving "X" number of years to the Army, I simply want to get the job I request. I was fortunate enough to have my recruiter and his fellow recruiters tell me this. Good luck on your adventure and if you are just reading this for info, enjoy that too. Be well all.
