Insuchbodiesnepotismandcronyism-favouringfamilyand
friends
asemployeesorcontractors-mustbeavoided..Nepotismgivesrisetotheserisks:

discouragesandde-motivatesotheremployees,astheyperceivetheiropportunitiesforpromotiontobeeroded;

theabilitytorecruitgoodemployeesisreduced;theabilitytoretainanddevelopgoodemployeesisundermined;andtheorganisation'ssystemofinternalcontrolcanbeweakenedduetomisplacedloyalty,seenasowednottotheorganisationbuttothefamilyorfriendshipgro!lP'Manypublicbodiesnotonlyhavewelldocumentedrecruitmentandpromotionprocedures,butalsoadoptanexplicitanti-nepotismpolicy.TheUnionhasneither.WerecommendthattheUnionformulate,documentandadoptprocedurestobefollowed
