This is a table. The rows are 2.4 and the columns are 3. To insert a picture in a box, just left click OUTSIDE of the table and on your toolbar at the top of the page, click on INSERT and in the drop down menu click on PICTURE and then select where you want to get your picture from. It will probably be CLIP ART or FROM FILE. Detailed directions for adding and formatting pictures are below. ***If you insert the picture directly into the table, you will not be able to format it.*** Each number is in its own text box that you can move, change the font and font size so that it meets your needs. To move it just click on the number and a box will show up around it. When you put your cursor over the edge of the box, it will turn into a plus sign with arrows on the ends. Just click on the edge of the box and drag it to where you want it. When you move your number, you may find that your picture covers part or all of it. If it is completely covered by your picture, go to EDIT and UNDO. If it is only partly covered, you are fine. Just right click on the edge of the text box your number is in and click FORMAT TEXT BOX then Select the LAYOUT tab and select either IN FRONT OF TEXT or BEHIND TEXT (if one doesnt work click undo and try the other) I have formatted these numbers so that you can put them on top of your picture instead of next to it, if you want.

To add pictures:
*For these calendar pieces, you want to left click outside of the table before inserting a picture or you will not be able to format the picture. Click on INSERT and select PICTURES from the drop down menu. You can click on FROM FILE if you have a picture in your files that you want to use. Then you browse your files until you find it and click on the picture and click on INSERT. You can click on CLIP ART. A clip art search window will show up on the right hand side of your document. Where it says SEARCH FOR: type in what you want a picture of. Where it says SEARCH IN: select EVERYWHERE if you have clip art on your computer or OFFICE COLLECTIONS or WEB COLLECTIONS if you dont (make sure you are connected to the internet so that it can search Microsofts free clip art files). Where it says RESULTS SHOULD BE: I select CLIPART, but you could also select PHOTOGRAPHS. You can now double click on a picture you want to use or put your cursor over the picture and an arrow will show up and you can click on it and select COPY TO COLLECTION if you think you will want to use it later (just remember where you put it).

To format pictures:
Now that you have a picture(s) in your document. You probably want to move it around better. RIGHT CLICK on the picture and select FORMAT PICTURE. Select the LAYOUT tab and select BEHIND TEXT (you can choose the other settings, but this and In Front of Text give you the most freedom to move the picture without having the text move.) To change the color of your picture to black and white or grayscale or fade it into the background (washout), you RIGHT CLICK on the picture and select FORMAT PICTURE. Then go to the PICTURE tab and where it says IMAGE CONTROL you will see that it says COLOR and AUTOMATIC. Click on the arrow next to AUTOMATIC and select the coloring you would like and click on OK. Now you can put your picture into one of the boxes. **REMEMBER you can always undo anything you change.

To change the size and rotate pictures:

Left click on your picture, you will see a bunch of white dots around it and one green dot. If you click and drag on the green dot, it will rotate the picture. If you click and drag on the white dots you can resize the picture. (Hint: it is usually best to click and drag on a corner dot to maintain proportions)

To Overlap pictures and/or pictures & text:

RIGHT CLICK on your picture and click on ORDER. You will have a bunch of choices as to whether you want to move this picture forwards or backwards in relation to the text and other pictures. Play with it to see what it does. REMEMBER, you can always go to EDIT and select UNDO if something goes wrong.
