What is Chronic Poverty?
The distinguishing featureof chronic poverty isextended duration inabsolute poverty. Therefore, chronically poorpeople always, or usually, live below a poverty line, which is normally defined interms of a money indicator(e.g. consumption, income, etc.), but could also bedefined in terms of wider orsubjective aspects ofdeprivation. This is different from thetransitorily poor, who movein and out of poverty, oronly occasionally fall belowthe poverty line.
