Description

In recent Semiannual Reports to Congress, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Peace Corps has reported on its "Investigations of Federal Employees' Compensation Act Recipients."

The OWCP! Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/owcp) recently contacted the OIG to find out where else results of the investigations have been published and when they would conclude. The document posted here is the response from the OIG.

The OIG is now an independent agency. The new law is H.R.928 Inspector General Reform Act of 2008, Public Law No: 110-409. '...nor answer questions posed....' The independent agency Office of Inspector General will not answer questions unless you file an FOIA. My email was for accounting issues and is straightforward (after going through what you went through). An FOIA is required to answer any questions. Congress had them account for the budget at Congress and the new problem is filing the FOIA for accounting information at Peace Corps, independent agency Office of Inspector General or Congress. Congress requested the accounting, but Office of Inspector General refuses requests and advises to ask Congress. This is a game and you might have to file an FOIA at Congress for the information if that's possible. The previous emails are refusals. The independent agency OIG is saying they are under the new law and not required to respond to any questions without an FOIA. from OIG date Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 11:25 AM subject RE: Peace Corps OIG P.L.110-409 Semiannual Report to Congress April 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008 / OIG Financial Reporting mailed-by peacecorps.gov Reply As stated in my January 15th e-mail you will need to submit a FOIA request to receive information from this office.
