The Federal Chief Information Officers Council Transition Guide is provided fornewly designated Agency heads and other senior leaders during this time oftransition to both understand the role of the Federal CIO Council and to begin theconversation of identifying additional opportunities to share information and improvethe Government’s performance, effectiveness and efficiency.The Transition Guide outlines the responsibilities of the Federal CIO Council anddescribes on-going efforts and past accomplishments, including work on E-Government (e-GOV) initiatives and Lines of Business (LoB). The guide also beginsa dialogue on opportunities to continue to change and provides relevant referencematerial, to include the current Federal CIO Council Strategic Plan and the FederalCIO Roadmap.Our Federal Government’s information leadership team has made significantprogress towards creating an information advantage for our nation and our citizens,and the Information Age provides tremendous continuing opportunities. Theeffectiveness and agility created through information sharing - getting the rightinformation to the right person at the right time - not only allows us to be better atwhat we do, it also allows us to accomplish things we’ve never been able to dobefore.We hope this guide is helpful during this time of change. The Federal CIO Council isa strong source of knowledge and experience, and provides an important forum forthe new Administration to work on new initiatives, align on-going activities and shapethe future.
