Manifold GIS
Manifold GIS is made by CDA International Ltd(www.manifold.net). You can use Manifold to access data stored in many data formats including the Manifold shape file format (*.shp). You can also useManifold to create your own geographic data based on aerial images or a link to Google Earth. Once you havemade the map you want, you can add tabular data, such as MS Excel files and data from database servers, to yourmap so that you can display, query, summarize, and organize your data geographically. Manifold lets you createmaps to show your data and allows you to uncover and analyze trends and patterns in your data.In manifold the terminology is different from Manifold. Users familiar with Manifold should be aware of that. Ashort list is given below:
Manifold ESRI
Areas PolygonsLines Arcs / Lines / Poly-linesPoints PointsDrawing Shape / CoverageImage Grid / RasterSurface Grid / RasterAll Manifold functions can be accessed within the main program. To start the program, click on the Windows Startbutton in the lower left corner, choose
All Programs
and find
Manifold System 8.0

located in the ‘ManifoldSystem’ map. Click it once to start.
Depending on previous settings, the main screen after starting the program canlook likeFigure 1-1below. In the upper left corner you see the (still empty) [Project1] window, showing the

Project
pane. As nothinghas been loaded yet, it is empty. If something is created or loaded into the
Project
pane, it is called a
component
.Components can be images, drawings, labels, tables, layouts, maps, etc..
