Werememberthefollowingsong(judezmo:kantiga)fromSalonikaoftheinterbellumperiod.Thetuneandtherefrainwereprobablytakenfromalate-nineteenth-orearly-twentieth-centuryGreekballad.MembersofA.A.'sfamilytoldhimthathisfather,EliasShem-TovArditti,whodiedin1913,usedtosingit.SinceEIavenir(aJudezmonewspaperinSalonika,towhichthesongrefers)waspublishedbetween1897and1917,thesongwaspresum-ablywrittenbetween1897and1913or,
