Agenda Item: Consider Approval of Board Meetings and Board Work-Study Sessions for 2012-13 - Action Summary: Based on the discussion and outcomes at the June 23 Board Work-Study Session, the Administration is recommending the following: Eleven Regular School Board Meetings: one each month except in July. The meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. except in January due the districts Winter Break schedule. The January 2013 meeting will be held on Thursday, January 17. Six Work-Study Sessions. These sessions will give the School Board an opportunity to delve into topics more thoroughly. The dates and topics selected are listed below. Sept. 20 Strategic Planning Update Oct. 25 Resource Allocation Dec. 20 - Compensation Feb. 21 Socioeconomics and Poverty April 18 Dual Language June 20 Irving TIF and Planning for 2013-14 Board Meetings

A Board Effectiveness Audit in conjunction with a Team of Eight Training will be scheduled during the year to meet the statutory requirement of a team building training for the School Board members and superintendent in addition to the six work/study sessions listed above.
