1929Ford All-Metal Monoplane 5
INTRODUCTION
This book of service instructions and operating suggestions is offered
for the guidance of owners, pilots and mechanics of Ford all-metal mono-
planes. With the engine instruction book as a supplement, it is designed
to thoroughly familiarize the operator with the plane.
Information contained in this volume is the result of study and obser-
vation of the tri-motor Ford monoplane under a variety of operating con-
ditions, not only on commercial lines, but in private service as well. It
represents the experience of both pilots and mechanics. Much space is
devoted to structural details of the plane. Additional emphasis is laid on
the personal element in flying.
The service obtained from an airplane is measured largely by the intelli-
gence with which the plane is handled. Operators, pilots and mechanics
should give this volume careful study immediately after delivery of a new
plane. It should be remembered that the Ford monoplane is a substantial
investment and should be treated as such. Regular inspection and service
is the secret of lower upkeep costs and reduced depreciation charges.
In the interest of safety and regularity of operation of the plane,
we recommend that pilots be requested to study in detail the section of this
book entitled “Suggestions on the Operation of the Ford Tri-motor.”Book of Instruction
