ABOUT THE USC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: The USC Alumni Association's mission is to support the overall advancement of USC by engaging all alumni for life, building a culture of philanthropy among the Trojan Family, and being the representative voice for all USC alumni. With more than 300,000 members worldwide, the USC Alumni Association (USCAA) supports more than 100 affiliate alumni clubs, alumnae support groups, and multicultural alumni organizations, and it distributes more than two million dollars each year in scholarships for USC students. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSILIBITIES: The USC Alumni Association is seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) to enrich the Trojan Family experience through fostering relationships between current students and alumni. The Graduate Assistant will be working primarily in the Epstein Family Alumni Center at the University Park campus (UPC). Directly supervised by the Associate Director for Student Outreach, the Graduate Assistants primary functions include the following: Support the launch and advising of the Student Alumni Society, the broad student-based outreach group Support the development of Society 53, a group of the Student Alumni Societys most active members Assist in the planning, execution, and assessment of student-alumni events and programs including Trojan Scuppers, SCend Offs, New Student Orientations, and scholarship programs Assist in the creation of print and digital marketing materials including promotional items, website management, and advertising Build and maintain partnerships with students, staff, faculty, alumni, volunteers, donors, and vendors Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: The USC Alumni Association encourages graduate and professional students from all programs to apply for the Graduate Assistant position. Strong consideration will be given to those with previous experience in higher education administration/student affairs, alumni relations, public relations, event planning/management, volunteer management, and/or non-profit management. The Graduate Assistant must: Maintain full-time status in a USC graduate program (minimum of six units per semester). Be in good academic standing as defined by his/her academic program. Work approximately 20 hours weekly, every week throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Some night and weekend hours will be required. Serve a two-year appointment which will be renewable at the option of the USC Alumni Association after each year. Be highly-organized and detail-oriented. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. *Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or Microsoft Publisher TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Employment Date: Two academic years (August 2012 May 2013 and August 2013 May 2014) Compensation: $15 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week Start Date: Immediately
