Indications
Suctioning is required if the client isunable to spontaneously mobilize and expelsecretions
Precautions
•Recent nose, sinus, throat, trachea or esophageal surgery•Partial upper airway obstruction (eg croup,epiglottis)•Tracheal or bronchial stents ( a medicalorder is needed in terms of the depth towhich the suction catheter can beinserted)
