Database Backup

Reference: TADM51 I am performing Online backup on hard-drive. So I have changed backup_dev_type to disk (default value is tape) and backup_root_dir to D:\backup\database in configuration profile file initECC.sap for BR*Tools. We can change backup_type to online in place of offline here also, but I will change it with Brtools which will override this value during backup run.

In command prompt run brtools: Give your choice 4 in BR*Tools main menu and in next Backup and database copy menu 1.

Now I am changing backup type to online as shown.

Review the parameters and confirm the same with C.

Backup started:

This is the directory where we are taking backup. I found two new directories created during backup run.

Backup run (return code 9999) can be verified form DB12 and database message log.

Now PSAPECC640 has entered backup mode its taking lot of time & my system is now damn slow.

Backup Successful:

Success of backup can be verified from DB14 or DB12.

Verification of Backup
After taking backup, it is recommended to verify the backup. Brtools > Backup and database copy > verification of database backup:

Select the backup to be verified: I am verifying backup what we took some time back which is first one. Review the parameters: I am not using DBVERIFY option.
