Unless you step in and call a halt to the madness. You, Rex, are the only one who can stop the next war with a single statement. You have the unique position and moral authority to say STOP! THIS IS IMMORAL! Battlegrounds have been identied and declared publicly in Texas, Oklahoma, Idaho, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Washington, Portland, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia and WV, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin; and British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec in Canada. Civilians are convening and preparing for battle: young and old, male and female. Civilians will escalate their blockading of heavy hauls and tar sands dilbit pipelines. Civilians will escalate their demonstrations against coal exports and tar sands mining. Civilians will escalate their demonstrations against fracing and mountaintop removal. Civilians will escalate putting their bodies on the line and risk being taken into custody. Civilians will escalate their expression up to and beyond limits afforded to U.S. citizens. Civilians will be good assertive citizens, just as Exxon Mobil is a good Corporate Citizen. I fear civilian nonviolent direct action will provoke ofcers of the law to overreact.

Civilians are saying "no" to black gold, and want the quiet white noise of clean energy. Please implore Congress to enact a Carbon Fee, which you have already endorsed. Please explain that resulting CO2 reductions will lower rening capacity needs. Please announce that you and CEOs around the globe will begin retiring reneries. Please make this inevitable decision and announce it soon. Were running out of time. Soon, you will have no choice. The decision is inevitable. The U.S. District Court put the onus on the states where litigation is pending in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington. The Honorable Gisela D. Triana (200th Judicial District Court in Austin) ruled in favor of Our Childrens Trust on June 14 (Final Judgement dated August 2, 2012, is enclosed). The Federal Courts will back you up. And internationally, deliberations have begun to make ecocide a crime. The day will come when you will have total support in deciding to discontinue industry practices as criminal, including the extraction of hydrocarbons. It is time to start winding down the fossil fuel energy industry. Start by retiring one renery. I guarantee you, you will be lauded as hero. Now. More than any American President. Your legacy will most assuredly make your children and their offspring -- and me -- proud. You will look forward to a healthy and peaceful society that you, your children and their children will enjoy -- by kickstarting a course correction toward life-sustaining energy. You, Mr. Tillerson, will avoid the despicable consequence of getting the blood of countless passionate civilians on your hands -- people willing to ght for the future of mankind. We wont need the pipelines and tar sands ecocide. Civilian war and death will be averted. Best of all, you will be able to look your children and grandchildren in the eye and tell them that you knew that taking the initiative and biting the bullet was the right thing to do, and you did it.
