In Kuwait, he wasdoing dryland resaerch focussing date palm and vegetable production under moisturestressed/ environmrnts. For more than three decades, based at Kerala Agricultural University, he wasworking in tropical agricultural research and development, as Professor, in the area of crop production, water management, drought tolerance and faming systems in thestates of Kerala. He also has collaborative research experience with SAUs of TamilNadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, and West Bengal. Hisresearch focus involves enhanced water use efficiency and to improve cop productionin rain fed agriculture using new varieties and improved technologies. He coulddevelop water management strategies for rice, cashew, coconut, ground nut andbanana for India.
