The history o journalism teaching and research at universityis relatively short. By no means can it be compared with that o otherdisciplines with a long university tradition, such as philosophy, medicineor law, whose origins can be traced back to the Middle Age. Just recently,the irst university school o journalism held its one hundredth yearanniversary. In 2008, the Missouri School o Journalism reached indeedits irst hundred years since it was ounded in 1908 in the small towno Columbia, Missouri. Some argue that the irst university school o journalism in Europe could even be rom slightly earlier times: apparently,the École Supérieure de Journalisme in Paris has been educating journalistssince 1899.
