August 19, 2012Dear Parents,Welcome to an exciting year of preschool at St. Stanislaus. Forthose of you who are new to our school I would like to take thisopportunity to introduce myself. My name is Angie Mulder and Iam the preschool
, transitional kindergarten (young five’s)
andkindergarten teacher here at St. Stanislaus. I live in Dorr withmy husband and two daughters, and am a member of St.Sebastian Parish. An exciting year and fun year is being planned! I look forward tobecoming acquainted with you and your child. In this letter I willexplain some basic information about our class.
Snack Calendar:
You will receive a snack calendar every month.
Your child’s name is on a certain
date along with what snack theywill be bringing. This snack is for the entire class. According tothe rules set by the State of Michigan, parents must sign up for asnack prior to bringing it in. This way when the snack calendar issent home, all snacks are listed on the calendar. All snacks mustbe healthy and follow USDA guidelines. Some examples might bepretzels, bananas, cheese and crackers, trail mix, granola barsetc. Also, the drink can either be water, milk, or 100% juice. Itry to make sure I mark birthdays and have students bring insnack on the day closest to his or her birthday. On birthdays thechildren may bring in a special treat. Students should bring in asnack, drink, napkins, and cups if necessary.
Classroom Newsletter:
I will be sending home newsletters onThursdays telling you about the activities the students have been

busy doing in on our classroom. The newsletter will also explainany special activities being planned. The newsletter will be senthome electronically via email. If this does not work out for youplease let me know and I can print out a copy and send it home in
 your child’s folder
that I will be providing for them. Also, when you have any notes please send them in the folder. Likewise, anynotes or papers from school not sent home by email will comehome in the folder. I have also started a classroom blog this yearin hopes of adding another line of communication between homeand school. The blog address iswww.mrsmuldersclass.blogspot.com.I hope this is another tool tohelp keep you updated as to what is going on in our classroom. Ihave already made a couple of blog posts and hope to add ournewsletters to the blog as soon as I have all the bugs worked outof the blog. Stop by and take a look!
School Newsletter:
Every week the school sends home anewsletter and other important information with the oldest childin the family. These will be sent home via email. Please readthrough the letters and information as it contains importantschool wide information.
Surprise Box:
This is a box used for show and tell. Instead ofhaving several children bring in show and tell each day, one childwill use the surprise box I provide.
On your child’s surprise box
night have them place a special show and tell item inside the boxand help them write three clues as to what is inside the box. They will bring the surprise box in on the next school day and tellthe other children the clues. The class will try and guess what isin the box. This is an activity that encourages oral languagedevelopment and makes each child feel special.

Preschool Schedule:
The morning preschool runs from 9:00-11:30 and the afternoon class runs from 12:30-3:00. Please be asprompt as possible when picking up and dropping off children. Iuse the time between classes to have lunch, and before and afterschool to do planning. The classroom door will remain locked untilfive minutes before class starts, as I am in and out of the roomgetting things ready for class. Also, when dropping off andpicking up children they must be signed in and out here in theclassroom.
The children’s first day of school
will be on Thursday,September 6.
Meet the Teacher:
On Tuesday, September 4 the children can
come in and “meet the teacher.” It will be a mini
-open house. The students can come in and see the classroom and meet my aideand me. This would be a good opportunity to drop off any supplies
the children may have as well. I will also be taking the children’s
pictures to put up on their lockers along with their nametags. The morning preschool students should come in anytime between9:00 and 11:30, the afternoon preschool students should come inany time between 12:30 and 3:00. These times are also theirregular school times. If you ever have any questions, comments, or suggestions, pleasefeel free to call or email me. My number at school is 269-793-7204 and my email is mulder@st-stans.net.We are going to have a great year! I hope to see you on September 4!Thank you for your support,Angie Mulder
